On first look I really like the funky design, you have a good eye for colour. Although your flash sections are good examples of your abilities its just too much on one page, gave me a headache before I could think about reading your content.

 

I think the top navigation would look much cleaner using simple CSS text rather than images. I also would keep the top banner static rather than scrolling as it all gets kind of messy as you reach the footer.

 

Talking of the footer, like the top nav, I would change the link images to text and put them below the figures rather than cutting across their feet.

 

You have a lot going on across the site and quite a few different font weights and sizes, having an overall standard would pull it all together. The pages away from the index page are easier to read without all the flash distraction but the header image looks a bit squashed.

 

You have some validation issues to sort out but you obviously have a style you want to get across and that's good. Look forward to seeing the site when you get it finished.

Mmmm, static website only £180, the look of the website is why, learn the importance of z-index, and perhaps try something more simple where your photoshop skills will shine rather than die?

You have a flash banner thats codeable in Ajax, the artwork is really poor looking, as if all the images are low colour depth gifs.

 

Every time you move that lil div shakes, makes me feel sea sick!

On first glance the site seems to be very busy.

 

The two Flash elements detract from each other and the difference in design does not look very professional, try to be consistent.

 

I would remove all of the Flash elements. They are not search engine friendly and they are not accessible. If you can convey your information without the use of Flash then do so, that is one principle I would stick to.

 

The navigation should also be consistent and the the colours should be the same across the board.

 

I would also lose the menu system and use a simple unordered XHTML list styled with CSS.

 

The header graphic is good but I would remove the animation when you move the mouse over it.

 

Also, you are displaying the W3C Valid XHTML logo but your code does not validate. You have 6 errors in your XHTML and 2 errors and 27 warnings in your CSS code.

 

You are also using a combination of inline and external style sheets. In my opinion I would keep all of your CSS style instructions in external style sheets. This will help keep the code lean and easily organised and readable, it also increases the separation of structure from presentation.

 

I would remove all of the JavaScript from the page as what you are trying to achieve with the JavaScript can be much more easily achieved using XHTML and CSS alone. Also, not all users have JavaScript turned on.

 

The shake on the latest feedback section is very annoying and in my opinion that would turn a lot of potential customers off.

 

When you scroll the page and then hover over the header graphic the animation reveals the rest of the site underneath and it does not look very good.

 

You are also using tables for layout on certain elements. This is bad practice. Tables should only be used to display tabular data. Use CSS only for adding presentation to your site.

 

With regards to the graphical elements, I would definitely simplify everything and in my opinion either JPEGS or PNG files are much better than GIFS.

 

With regards to the copy, I am not an expert copywriter by no means, but focusing on the customer and not your company is good practice. Also talk about the benefits to the customer rather than the features of your packages.

 

In your Customer Satisfaction page you talk about how you employ the latest techniques and technologies, but your website does not reflect this. Though most companies or individuals will not know this, it would be good practice to either remove this statement or get up to speed with the latest web design techniques and technologies.

 

I hope these comments don't get you downhearted and that they help in some way.
