I would suggest that you learn php only if you are going to use it because it is an language which could be hard to pick up again if neglected

W3Schools is an excellent resource. I am also learning PHP and found this the other day PHP Wikibook. Looks quite useful. Tizag is also good.

Tizag and this tutorial helped me out A LOT, since the guy supposed to be teaching us php at uni cannot teach for s**t.

This link explains things very clearly and presumes you no nothing at all about php or mysql

then if you try you tube there are some interesting tutorial vids on there and when you need to do something that you carnt find the answer to just google it or ask on the WDF

If you've got a local library handy, search for any books by Larry Ullman.
