October 14, 200818 yr Hi I am dealign with my first client at the moment and they have asked me this question When the website is up and running how do any amendments ect work. Is that something which will be realitivly easy for me to do or would I need to come back to you every time something needed changing. If I needed to come back to you how would the pricing work?? I am wondering if there is any easy way for the customer to amend their site if they do not have dreamweaver. I have been told there are ways to do this but i have not heard of them I would greatly appreciate if anyone can shine some light on this for me. Many Thanks
October 14, 200818 yr The easy way (and most lucrative for you) is to get them to come back to you with any updates - you can then charge them your hourly rate. If they wanted to be in charge of their own destiny then you need to run the site using some sort of Content management System which allows them to login and make changes. CMS's have been discussed a lot so search these forums for more info. If you do provide them with a CMS you'll also have to give them some sort of tuition, and be prepared to fix anything they make a balls up of!
October 14, 200818 yr Depends how you made it really and what amendments you need to make. If it's built based on a CMS, then text amendments will be easy. HTML amendments, depending on the size, I would charge for. Build the price around how long it will take you to do it.

October 15, 200818 yr :s I have no idea about CMS I will look it up now. Im gonna guess CMS isn't something you can learn in a day lol ? CMS (Content Management System) is very useful and almost all sites use them now. You could probably install one in a day and learn the basics, but designing and styling it would take longer. I couldn't be bothered installing one, so I learnt PHP and MySQL and made my own! Haha.

A variety of CMS's and other scripts are really part of the web designers toolbox nowadays, clients as for lost of things and if you can't provide you don't get the work
