I know this question may of been asked a million times in other places and again it depends on your skills, but I'M after a rough guide for doing this sort of work, I'm no professional when it comes to SEO, but adding to directories and back-links takes time, but also I'm aware that SEO you pay a little more for than design work.

 

Also with regards to directory listing is there a quick way for adding to multiple directories?

The final cost or quote will differ from project to project and the question I think is a little too vague.

 

For instance, SEO may include a re-hash of the architecture of a site, in other instances the structure may be sound. In any case you'll need to invest a large amount of time into Keyword Analysis and Discovery. You will need to understand your target audience intimately. Where are they, who are they, what age - gender, how much money do they have (if e-commerce). I built up a profile for them (but be careful, as a good friend reminds me: "They can all end up being Chris from Coldplay").

 

The process of link building can be long and time consuming as I like to ensure links are from a 'relevant' URL's.

 

As an editor of the Open Directory Project I don't know of any way to manage or request multiple sites at any 1 time.

 

I hope this has been of some use, I've found that SEO is a subjective subject. The methods I use are inherited from SEOmoz and they have served me well, but it doesn't and won't prepare you for the time you'll need to spend trawling through combinations of keywords and competitor research.

Why not just charge by your hourly rate?

If I've read the post correctly he'll want to know approximately how long it should take? My reply was suggesting that it isn't an exact science. As for cost p/h, that'll depend on experience and proven track record.

Thanks for the advice, it never occurred to me to charge by the hour, I had it stuck in my head to cost the for job.
