- depends on the jobs. 2 jobs a month at £50 each won't feed the children (especially when people don't pay) but 2 jobs at £1500 each gives the children food and the wife a slight smile.

 

do you target certain companies for jobs? if so how?

- Not really. I would try not to target only 'startups' for example as they usually have a smaller budget which means that you have to find more clients each month to pay the bills. As for getting the work, I'm still getting it though word of mouth and the key to that is getting your name 'out there' in the first place. It can be very difficult.

- More like, for every 500 emails. For me, very poor success rate and I haven't bothered for a long time.

- It's an individual thing really. As long as I can pay the mortgage and have a few beers now and again whilst the kids eat and the wife buys the occasional pair of shoes, I'm happy. If I wanted to drive a lotus and wear designer suits, I'd need to make a lot more. If, for example, you are still living with your parents and most of the money you earn is yours, its different again.

Very difficult to start with but gets easier with time (the longer you have been in business)

I don't aim for a certain amount of jobs because one job could be worth £40 whereas one worth £1000 but I normally make £3-400 a month.

Nope, companies all sizes come to me, had huge car importing companies come to me and small startups come to me and a lot of NHS work its all word of mouth if your work and the manner you present yourself is good then people will spread your name.

I have never bothered with e-mails, luckily my dad owns a restaurant and I made a website for the current guy that owns it and that was my first real client I didn't get paid a lot but I got a foot on the ladder.

Nope I currently live at home waiting for uni to start and I pay my board, car insurance, a few beers here and there, treat the girlfriend, add to my dvd collection and try and save £150 a month. Works out I need 3-400 like said above

I found it easy I just gradually grew through word of mouth now I have plenty of repeat customers and lots of new ones all the time, I am hoping itw ill slow down while I am in uni so i can concentrate on my studies and alcohol.

Haha I intend to enjoy it, although I will be a "co-owner" of a student house in 6-12 months time where I shall be living rent & bill free thanks to a lovely loophole in the government and a nice father.

 

but atleast by paying a mortgage you own a home and have your foot on the property ladder.
