I've been trying to improve the ranking for this site http://www.boilerreplacement.net/ on google. The site has been front page for a few weeks, fluctuating from position 3 -7. --- google search : boiler replacements + london

 

I added more keywords, (boiler replacement ) improved the title etc etc . The index page started to loose ground only to be overtaken by the areas_covered section. This would be because "boiler replacements" keywords was now accompanied by a few "London" keywords.

Both pages have now gone from the front page. Only the index page is showing for google search : boiler replacements + london ; It's now on page 5.

 

 

I've been following the usual SEO procedures but I'm going backwards. Any ideas what's going on ?

Not an SEO expert by any means but over what length of time has this happened?

Any changes you make will take a while to have any noticeable effect.

Is the site new(ish)? New sites seem to fluctuate quite a lot. I would possibly give it more time before changing anything else.

The site has been online for a bout 2 months. Over the last month and half it has been redesigned. The site seems to get reindexed about every week.

The changes in rankings has happened over the last 2 weeks, which coincides with the SEO effort.

 

I haven't done anything to my knowledge which would warrant being penalised. I've done the usual SEO things.

New sites fluctuate a lot just keep on keeping on. Keep building back links
