Is it possible to have two background images, one repeating x and the other y?
I think a lot of the trouble I'm having originates from the way I made the image--The tops of the columns are all semi transparent and irregular so I can't just give the columns background color. That'd cover up part of the image, unless I somehow managed to have the background color, image, and then text on top. I'll try researching on google...Maybe I'll figure this out. I wonder if the diagonal background is really worth all this work. xD

Is it possible to have two background images, one repeating x and the other y?
Yeah, or an opaque black. The way I saved it, the gradientesque quality of the shadow got turned into mre of a sharp edge, so I could probably pull that off. Now I'm running into more difficulties...Forgive me if I'm being stupid, but I've never done this before. I'm trying to make the dark grey background work, the one that has the two lighter columns ontop of it (Color #D5D5D5). I'm not quite sure how to go about this part... Ideally the two columns would be inside of it so they have the same height, but the image has to be between them.

Is it possible to have two background images, one repeating x and the other y?
bocaj: Thats what I was thinking, but I can't manage to figure out how. It doesn't work. Can you even put a div tag in front of the body tag? lifeinspeia: Don't worry, I'm just putting it all on one document while I'm building it 'cause I find it easier that way. It'll be external and everything when I'm done. ssmilwauke: That should work. The only thing is that the white and lightgrey box is supposed to cast a shadow on the grey background, but its not so important. Thanks guys, for the help! I'll try out your ideas and I've got some more of my own now too. ^^

Is it possible to have two background images, one repeating x and the other y?
Below is a screenshot of a layout I am making, and you can see that it has a background image that repeats on the y axis so the textbox can overflow down. However, because it only goes down, there is no background to the right. I'd like to have a continuation of the black and grey diagonal pattern you see there covering the grey background color thats visible. I've tried to get around the fact that it seems there can only be one bg for the body tag with other containers (with the diagonal background), but I haven't been able to pull it off. Ideas, anyone? (The page's coding is below as well.)

Figmint; the uber pwner.

/*Style sheet used for demo. Wowza bo bowza! The safari 4 startup video is made w/ css?!
I just downloaded Safari 4 and a video plays when you first start it. (I'm not sure whether it'll work on other browsers/OS's, but the url of it is here: http://www.apple.com/safari/welcome/) My brother had mentioned something about CSS regarding it, so I right clicked and viewed the source. Sure enough, there's hints of CSS and an external stylesheet: http://images.apple.com/safari/welcome/styles/safari.css OOO: Its so beautiful! So amazing! Is the version of CSS used in the making compatible all around--has it been around all along waiting to be found by me? -rubs hands together greedily- The last frontier (for me at least *cough*)! Well, anyway, very spiffy isn't it?!

Bottled water
Round fonts seem to go well with natural themes, water included. For an industrial feel, strong bold fonts are probably better. Keep it simple and clean, and it'd probably look best if you keep all the colors centered around blue.

Need Urgent advice regarding layout & design
Nearly everything else on the page has a border and it doesn't, so maybe thats the problem. You could add a border similar to the images' to the dark grey area. That might be too fancy though.

Multiple background images?
Hullos, I'm Frisby. I've been wondering this for quite a while, but I've never gone out of my way before to find the answer. Is it possible to have two background images? You see, what I want is an image that repeats vertically (like for a text box that flows downwards) and then another that tiles the whole page to pick up where the vertically repeating one leaves off. Thanks in advance!

Preformated text (pre) and Comp Code (code) troubles.
Alright, so the left <s work with when I use "<", but the right ones don't work with "&mt;". However, if I just leave the right ones as >s they'll appear as they're supposed to. Thanks!

Preformated text (pre) and Comp Code (code) troubles.
Heys! I'm writing a tutorial and I want to display tags without them actually taking effect, so I've tried using the code and pre tags. Unfortunately, tags aren't appearing when I use the tags... Is there any good tag that will serve my purpose out there, if these two won't? You can see the page that I'm attempting to use the tags on here: http://figmint.zzl.org/tutorials/tcss.php

A broken facebox or the wrong doctype?
I tried on the first textarea and it still shows. If you can answer these questions, then I will put it on an external page. I just haven't been able to figure out how yet. -Do you put style tags on the stylesheet page? -In the rest of the page's code if the thingamajig you write,
or is there something more? It should load eventually, it works for me.

A broken facebox or the wrong doctype?
Thanks a lot! I shall change it to that and see where I can go from there... Edit-- So I changed the code to the one above, and now the tabs are on top of each other. Also the "" stuff appears in the textarea--Is that supposed to happen? 'Nother Edit-- I was looking at the doctype--Is it for XHMTL or HTML? As far as I know I think I should be using a HTML one.

A broken facebox or the wrong doctype?
Hey there. I'm helping make a site with some people, and having used lightboxes before (on a different site) to view images, I decided to try using them. I got the lightbox code that you're supposed to include in the coding from dynamic drive, and it said that a doctype is necessary. The layout for the site I was going to use the facebox in didn't have one, so I put in the one provided by dynamic drive, changed the default location of the facebox in the code to where mine is, and tried it out. The result was this: http://onyx-dragon.emporers-village-neo.ne...sitelayouts.php The layout appears to work as it should, but when you click on one of the layout names (ie, Teal Stars) the facebox fails to function properly and is all messed up. I tried other doctypes, but then the navigation tabs get messed up, and the facebox doesn't work anyhow. Maybe there's something else besides the doctype thats messed up. I really don't know. Any ideas on what I should do to fix the facebox?

Feedback desperately needed
Here are some jumbled thoughts of mine: From the logo at the top I would expect more gold in the layout. Although its red and goes with the gold, you might want to incorporate some...gold -redundant- somewhere else in the layout. The green banner on the homepage seems a bit out of place color-wise. The header, "The Tapestry House - Quality wall tapestries and tapestry wall art" looks bad bleeding over into the right column. Keep it on its own side. Also, since the logo has a font with serifs, you may want to incorporate a similar font somewhere in the layout.

The programs on my computer crashed, and photobucket and tinypic won't let me upload anything. What can I do?
Someone I know has had the above problem. They posted it on Yahoo Answers, but I don't think there'll be any repliese anytime soon, and this seems to be a pretty bad problem she has. Here's what she posted on Yahoo Answers: The programs on my computer crashed, and photobucket and tinypic won't let me upload anything. What can I do? These programs (all) I have (that worked perfectly fine yesterday) don't let me open or save anything: Adobe Photoshop 4.0, Adobe Photoshop 7 and Paint.net. When I click the "browse" button on the uploaders I listed in the question it'll pop up, I'll select what I want to upload, and then the whole thing closes. It drives me crazy. And I tried restarting the computer. I tried un-installing paint.net and then installing again. It doesn't work. Help! Please! ---- Quick replies are much appreciated. ^^

What kind of Lightbox is this?
Its not a hoverbox, or facebox. Its called a lightbox on the mac site (according to the alt text), but its not the regular plain kind. Someone could have taken the original lightbox code, changed it to what you see on those sites for their own use and then have been copied, hence the other similar lightbox.
