June 4, 200917 yr hi guys, i've got past the stage of coding, however i feel that something is not right with the design/layout of the site. Could you please take a look at the content section and recommend what i could do to make it look more part of the site. Please take extra note of the darker grey box where the text goes...it looks a bit odd, so can you recommend any changes to maybe colour or even the layout? thanks
June 4, 200917 yr Looks good, you have a yellow border on the left side of the template, I would put one on the right too to make the design more consistent.

Yeah i think the yellow is the wrong contrast to be applied in certain areas, just needs re-worked a lil bit. If you wanna have content in the style of the grey box, i use a similar effect quite often for <blockquote></blockquote> and apply a CSS style of something like blockquote { background-color: #EEEEEE; border: 1px solid #CCCCCC; padding: 7px; color: A darky grey, so it blends well with #EEEEEE as the background, cant remember HEX value right now. } That style will also go well with the image borders you have used above with the #FFFFFF background and the #CCCCCC 1px solid border.
June 5, 200917 yr Nearly everything else on the page has a border and it doesn't, so maybe thats the problem. You could add a border similar to the images' to the dark grey area. That might be too fancy though.
June 5, 200917 yr Author Well guys, i took your advice and added the yellow border on the right too. @ a.g.r.c - I've tried the blockquote mate. I don't know why, but it still feels odd..maybe its just me. I tried with a white background and a #EEEEE background, but something within the content seems to be out...maybe its the font or some other colours i need to change?
June 6, 200917 yr I quite like the blockquote in the first image, in the second the contrast between background/foreground isn't that good. The footer looks like it ends too abruptly, try to position it at the bottom of the page, or at least try adding a border under it. Here's the method I used for positioning footers at the bottom - linky
June 6, 200917 yr Author hi mrbrightside, i tried positioning the footer to the bottom of the page, but i ended up messing the whole layout. Maybe its because the template is already set and i can't change it, unless done from scratch. someone said change the yellows, but i think the yellows are what make the site stand out more. Its just the content area i'm having problems with and after messing around, i found out what looked odd. I had the bullet points in the grey background and the normal text in the white background. Now my question is that even though its looking much better, the text looks a bit boring, so would u say that i should add some pictures within the white blockquote to make it a bit more jazzed up or leave it? Also what could i do to the bullet points to make them stand out more? colours? styles? thanks!
June 10, 200917 yr I'd get yourself some custom list icons. They will definitely help, how about some nice arrows?
June 10, 200917 yr I would perhaps use some gradients instead of block colours, in the logo for example.

Generally, I think there is another problem that you have too many text on this page, are you sure visitors are gonna read it? I like the first version after you've changed the background.
