Thanks. What do you see as the main reasons for a dedicated server? I was thinking the database size would not be too big if most job posts are temporary and certainly wouldn't expect high volume within the first year of operation. A virtual server looks to me to be a good starting point, which could then be reassessed and scaled where necessary. This would keep some startup/first year costs down to a minimum. Fully understand the security side. I'd want to implement MFA for everyone as well as respecting GDPR and all the other stuff I'm probably about to learn about.

Yes I'm seeing it like a chicken & egg scenario. If there's no one to be employed, why would a company invest, similarly if there's no companies hiring why would job seekers sign up... What was the subscription/pricing model in place for those sites you've done in the past? I'm thinking of maybe doing free listings for the first year but allowing sponsorship of the site so that there is still the possibility of some income. Thank you for your input.

Hello I was wondering if anyone has experience with a classifieds based CMS with respect to jobs. I'd quite like to start a job site in a niche market as a side project. I've found a number of Classified & listing based Wordpress Themes on Theme Forest but few give examples with jobs. So it's difficult to imagine how it's all going to work. I don't mind so much on the CMS i.e. WP, Joomla, Drupal etc.. I'd be happy to go on recommendation and experience. A couple of features I would like to consider: The aim is to be globally accessible, so job seekers would ideally see listings for their country by default, either detected by IP or their user account, should they have one. Ability for sponsorhip & advertisements on the site Many Thanks

Hello web developers & designers! I'll start by saying my last real website project was circa 2007/2008 so the landscape has changed dramatically since then! I started to learn about web design / development in my school years, though schools back then didn't have an I.T. department, so it was largely at home. My early days of web development began with the aid of Frontpage & Frontpage Express along with the best book at the time for HTML, HTML Goodies by Joe Burns, an incredible author in my view. A huge shame he retired a long time ago. But I can understand why, I remember for quite a few years it was chaotic; xhtml, shtml, php, asp, python, cold fusion and was HTML 5 ever going to arrive. Fun times! I eventually progressed to Dreamweaver but called it quits by 2008, I'm not the most proficient coder and found the pace impossible to keep up with, I sadly never saw it as a profession. Today I am a complete novice but it's nice to see that I understand some HTML still. Poor Cold Fusion and Flash are nowhere to be seen. I now seek advice, but will post in the appropriate forum.
