simple flash slideshow, help needed
Hi all, Need some help, I'm creating a website and the client wants a basic slideshow on the front page. All I am looking or is: An image of 600w x 400h pixels which then fades to another image and so on for about 5-6 imges then starts again. No buttons/borders/thumbnails/controls required. Each image should be linked to a different page within the site when clicked. What is the easiest way of doing this? Any help appreciated, Thanks.

Need help creating multi function info box thingy
Hi, thanks for the reply, I have little to no knowledge of javascript so I doubt I'd be able to handle this. Any thoughts on doing this with flash? Would this be a good/bad idea? I think this may be a more feasable option for me.

Need help creating multi function info box thingy
Hi guys, Happy new year, need some help. http://www.sife.org/Pages/default.aspx If you take a look at this site, on the right you will see a grey box with "our mission" and some info and buttons etc, I'm creating a simple site for someone and they want one of those on the front page, unfortunately I don't even know where to start making it. It needs to be pretty much identical to the example and I'll fill in the relevant info/text/links. Can anyone advise me on how this is done? ANY help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks.

Customer editable products, possible?
Hi guys, Got a problem, working for a print company, if we have a website featuring standard posters/materials where the text could be changed from customer to customer, how would this be acheived? For example, supposing you wanted to buy a poster/flyer or whatever from us and it had a picture of the product you wanted to sell, but you wanted to change the description slightly and change the price. You want to do this online, see what it looks like then click "buy" and the company will receive your edited design, print it and send it to you. Is this possible and if so how would this be acheived? Thanks in advance.

E commerce custom product size? Please help?
Hi guys, Got a problem, I'm setting up a zencart site for a printing company, our products will be (for example) posters, available in A0, A1, A2, A3 etc...that fine, I can handle that but, then we will have "custom size" I want to set it up so that a customer will have 2 fields in which they can enter dimensions in cm and calculate a price based on the cost of the material per square metre. Lets say for example our customer chooses "plain paper" as their material, which is £100 per square meter, and they want a poster which is 50cm x 50cm they will be given a price of £50. Does this make sense? Is it possible? What are the options for something like this? Cheers.

thanks man, that looks absolutely perfect (apart from the auction element) do you think it is possible to have it as a purely "buy it now" type of site?

Classified Ads Site
Hi all, was wondering if anybody knows: I am looking into setting up a classified ads website where users can set up their own account and sell stuff themselves, like ebay but without the auction, I know how to set up a site where customers pay me via paypal or credit/debit card, but how can i make it work so they pay each other? anyone have any idea about this sort of thing? thanks.

HTML image placement (newbie)
Hi everyone, This may be really simple but I am new to this, so advance apologies... I made the site above using dreamweaver because I was scared of code of any kind. But felt like I should face my fears. Now I have recreated it using HTML. Hurrah! It's my first attempt at using code, but I'm quite proud of the achievment, I had no idea it could actually be fun. Just have a couple of questions and hope someone can help. 1. The menu bar has 4 boxes (news, info, links, contact) each box has spaces between, if the spaces weren't there, the boxes would line up (hopefully) with the header above and form one long continuous bar, anyone know how I can remove these gaps? 2. Just opened it in firefox (I'm using IE mainly) and the background is white, but in IE it is black as it should be, how can I make it appear black in firefox? (or other browsers for that matter) Hope someone can point me in the right direction thanks

Learning to play guitar
I been playing for about 12 years and can play just about anything I want (as long as it's not ridiculous shredding like buckethead) The best advice i could give to an absolute beginner would be: learn- "smoke on the water" "peter gunn theme" and "come as you are". also learn the major scale this is the basis for almost any melody that sounds "happy" think "when the saints go marching in" you can find all these on youtube or through google. Learn to tune by ear from the start, train your ears, it will be invaluable later for "playing by ear". once you have some simple 1 string melodies down, move onto simple chords. as much as i hate oasis, their early stuff is some of the easiest chord based guitar music to learn and will be a fantastic basis, then move onto the beatles, (like oasis but more complex) once you have these basics nailed, you'll know where to go based on what you want. also don't be too quick to get a teacher, many of the best guitarists are/were self taught. when you start to get it, it becomes incredibly addictive. practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, practise, etc etc etc...

new kid
Hi everyone, I just signed up today as I'm getting into web design, so far I have set up an e-commerce website for a printing company but this was only using a template (like where you put your company logo in and add your products) it was quite easy but it's a start. Also just made my first real website for my wedding next year, it's in a different country so needed a site for our guests to get vital info on stuff like location, hotels, flights, car hire etc etc... I am finding the whole web design thing quite addictive and hope to keep pushing myself to new challenges. I'm actually a graphic designer but web design seems like a logical progression in this day and age. I'm male, 27, English (Newcastle Upon Tyne) as well as graphic/web design, I am a musician (I have a degree in music which was great fun at the time but turned out to be completely useless, should have done a degree in graphics really) and I like all the standard stuff, movies, music, reading, getting drunk as a lord and so on.... So anyway expect to see me pestering all you guys for web design help but in turn I will try to contribute by helping anyone with graphics problems if I can (mainly PS and Illustrator) Cheers all!
