Computer science degree?
Hi, Could someone pls send a demo site anything at all, That would be a sufficient build to show an employer, just so I can gauge the level I need to achieve and are currently at. I do need to pursue employment but would rather not. the ideal situation for myself would be self employed doing websites for folk. But I have been running ads with little to no success with folk wanting it too cheap and going elsewhere ie gumtree or whatever. after running some ads for a few months, after not getting enough interest and seeing I still had a lot of learning to go I wasnt quite sure what to do next. Thats why the whole going to uni came about or else I would be busy working and would focus into learning more about web development. Plus earning at the same time happy days. having a re think after some answers Ive had here, I feel more confident finishing the treehouse course doing some more projects then hopefully getting a gig Hopefully employment let somebody else deal with headache of people lol. for early spring next year thats giving me plenty of time. Im on sick leave the now and want to make the most of it, can use a computer all day but running about day is a different story. Ahh the other thing was... once I get employed and gain some experience I would then start on working on a side project that could earn some side cash something i could do at night. Again thanks for the replys really appreciate it!

Hi rbrtsmith, Thanks for your reply and link ? Ill take a look at that info, Ive done a lot of c# language before so JavaScript hopefully is slowly but surely sinking in. I want to build a site that has a cool js feature before I will feel ready. Just so I am clear here I can get a developer job without any qualifications! Well think i get a badge from treehouse and then build a portfolio on GitHub showcasing some demo sites, This would suffice? Id be happy just to get my foot in door really.

Nice one well in! Fook it back to JavaScript! Start tonight I am closer to being a front end developer than anything really even if I smash it until Christmas then apply for jobs. Wish me luck! But could someone pls send me a website that would of a junior level?

Computer science degree?
Hi! Yes I have some websites I have on github basic to be honest. I still have a lot of learning to go mostly in JavaScript done the basics was starting on jquery and p5. I did however run a few adds to get some work for one earn some cash and two build on portfolio. Didnt really have any success mostly due to low to no calls and time wasters dont want to spend further time on learning skills that I will not get a return from. So a bit stuck with at all at the mo, what to do? learn more build more web apps etc apply for developer jobs hope for the best. Would be ideal for me to get any developer job quicker the better. does anyone have any portfolios I can look at so I have something to aim for? Or at least I wont be applying for jobs with a rubbish portfolio! And no qualifications. The cs degree is just an option its far from ideal really if I could get a gig as a developer happy days! Again thanks!

Computer science degree?
Hey, I May have the opportunity to study a computer science degree due to a ongoing Illness. I was studying a front end developer course with treehouse and other online resources but do feel its not enough to get a start in the industry as a front end developer or any developer role for that matter. Trying to get past hr without any decent paperwork is a pia! Ive tried lol. Since I am now 34 and havent been in the industry as my current skill set/job is telecommunications engineer but that may have to cease to due Illness. I was looking to for a career change anyway so not that big of a deal. Since I have this opportunity in life I want to make the most of it.moneys not really an issue due to health insurances etc. I just dont want to waste 4 years of my life doing a degree if its going to be pointless or any other reason... I have weighed the pros and cons and find to be swaying towards the degree since its a solid qualification. But at the expense of 4 years and charging on 38 yr old ? But what do you think its a good move worth the effort? Just like to hear some thought. Thanks Paul.

Bloody customers!
So how does the content work Does the customer supply us with every stich of text and images that will appear on the site? I did actually take a 50% deposit up front so there was no issues there as such. Just this whole design layout idea and again I took a pen n paper in to draw a rough sketch but all I got in return Ill leave it down to you. Do I insist on a paper diagram type of design layout then Get them to sign it. So we can agree where to put nav bars images etc ? Thanks for your help!

Bloody customers!
Hi Rallport. Thanks for the informative reply! Going to take some of your ideas and implement them into my buisness strategy. I'm new to the industry and have to take all these consideration in account. ill get some contracts drafted with time scales for content, deposits etc in all fairness he was a pest from the outset I kind of knew from there, I should have just cut him off. I partly blame myself for not agreeing a design layout at least then it would just be they're content that needs changed. Lesson learned I suppose.

Bloody customers!
Hi new here, I recently developed a website for a customer who said design it your way, your the expert! I asked if he had any Sites in mind for design ideas yeh my main competitor on the same area lol It was a single site non responsive type of idea. I stole the carousel idea and did my customer one on his main page. did the rest using a mobile first approach took me 3 days to code it up tweaking it for phone table and desktop. He was a pia wen I was asking for content saying I dont know what to write? Again your the expert eh? its your bloody content! But anyway after about 2 days I had the design layout up some pics sourced on google a jargon text just to show him the idea of the layout, yeh thats good but I dont like the pictures and the text is on German lol idiot I did explain this after that, I went to town incorporating the logo txt custom nav bar footer google maps the whole Shabang. I finished I sent it to him for a check he said he wasnt happy because it looks like an app not a website! In frustration I told him to **** off very professional I know. But my question is how does one avoid this in the future in terms of the design layout it really confuses me if customer dont really know what they want. How do avoid Spending days on layouts etc for customers to start P****** me around? I am new to the industry well early, was kind of forced into wen I got struck with a illness, luckily I have been learning web development the last year. Was planning on getting a job next year but illness no many people will touch me now so heho thought I would give it a bash solo obviously off to s bad start! Any tips folk?
