  1. So I suppose it won't be suitable to use now as there will be lots of people who'll not be able to view the site properly. That sucks as that was so easy! No idea what to do now :S
  2. Just deleted height & my 0's all seems to be working. Thanks
  3. I have just been playing around with it, I will delete all the bits with a 0.
  4. <style type="text/css"> body { text-align:center; background: #ffffff; } #wrapper { margin: 0 auto; width: 900px; text-align: left; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px solid #234d34; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px solid #234d34; } #banner { text-align: center; padding-top: 3px } #navigation { float: left; width: 900px; color: #ffffff; padding:5px; border: 0px; margin:0px 0px 0px 0px; background: #234d34; } #leftcolumn { color: #000000; background: #224c34; margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; height: 350px; width:200px; float: left; } #content { float: left; color: #000000; border: 0px; background: #ffffff; margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; padding: 5px; height: 350px; width: 500px; display: inline; } #rightcolumn { color: #000000; border-right: 2px solid #234d34; background: #ffffff; margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; padding: 5px; height: 350px; width: 200px; float: right; } #footer { width: 900px; clear: both; color: #000000; border-left: 2px solid #234d34; border-right: 2px solid #234d34; border-bottom: 2px solid #234d34; border-top: 4px double #234d34; background: #ffffff; margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; padding:2px; } To make the site stretch to fit content how do I alter height, do I put height: auto; for the two side borders and content?

Thank you for any help. The Dragon ps. Realise there are a few 0px things that need deleting, just been messing around with borders lol.
  6. Right I've never done a site using css.....and I've only ever done one site anyway lol. I have done the site positioning using css and have found the firefox ie positioning problem....oh what fun. So having read loads of things about hacks and stuff I found one line of code that someone suggested I insert. Now it did work but I have a feeling it isn't a good idea to use it. So, my question, what is the easiest way, using css, to make positioning look the same i both browsers. I've only done the simple positioning thing at the moment but the line of code is... div{-moz-box-sizing:border-box; box-sizing-box;margin:0;padding:0;} This has actually solved the problem. But if I try to validate the css it really doesn't like that line, and quite frankly I'm not sure what it is doing. Just realised, sorry if in wrong section.....it is to do with the browser problem but css too.
  7. My host did it for me today. I'm going to just use the forum with my own pages for the front now.
  8. After all the trouble setting up nuke (and thanks for the help) I have now been talking with someone and they think (and I do too) that it would be better me doing a site of my own and adding just the forum to the back of it instead of using nuke. I today have deleted nuke and all the work I'd done, trouble is the files won't delete, the content has gone but all the directories are still there and I really want to start with a blank canvas. I did have problems deleting a directory before, although the content went. Has anyone any ideas? Would I have to go to my internet providers to ask them to do it? Whatever I seem to do the folders are still there and I wanted to get on and upload the new one today. Thanks for any help. TheDragon
  9. Yeah, it seems to be, certainly not smooth to manage lol. I've managed to make it so no one can change the theme. Can't seem to get all the ad blocks working but still reading stuff about that atm. One thing I have been reading about is the security issues (as mentioned above) got me all worried now. Trouble is, as I'm so unsure what I' doing I'm really scared I'll alter something and mess it all up. Was gonna try to add a security mod to it tomorrow. Had enough tonight. I am starting to wonder if I should have used something other than nuke now lol.
  10. I did think I'd be getting somewhere by now, not even started anything to do with content yet! So far I can't seem to find a list of members. I'd have thought with something like this you'd be able to view the status of all the members in some kind of list. Also, you have to make an account to log on with if you want to use the forum or anthing. If I do that while an admin I can get a page where I can moderate this account, put a flag on it so no posts show etc. Well the only person I seem to be able to do this for is me. I have to use the password and log on as this person and obviously I won't have the passwords of all the members. Do you know if I'm missing something? TheDragon
  11. Probably a daft question. But when you log onto google webmaster tools you have to veryfy you're the owner/in control of the site. I used the meta tag and its worked fine, just wondering, are you supposed to leave it on there?
  12. Yeah maybe I could look into that. You may not have noticed this but I really don't know what I'm doing lol
  13. Ok, so just had a look in it and there is only one folder and no files showing. Maybe it deleted something but not the actual file............does it matter having it there if its empty?
  14. Thats the thing, it doesn't say anything, it just doesn't delete it. It says Really delete all selected files and/or directories? I click yes and it is still there. There is no error or anything. It is like I didn't do anything.
  15. Worked out the delete thing d'oh! I thought I'd have a list of all members somewhere and do it all from that. Anyway, thats done. I downloaded filezilla, I've followed your instructions but the install file won't budge. I right click and delete and it doesn't say I can't but it is still there afterwards. Ahhh......before I post this, I just checked the file inside the install file and that hasn't got that setting of 777, should I change that too?
  16. Right, i'll give that a go. Thanks. One thing, is it possible to delete a member once they've joined? I've done my test person and I've mucked it up somehow (testing all the options lol) and they can't log in. So I thought I'd delete them and try to rejoin...............then realised I have no idea how to delete. Can you?
  17. I'm sure you'll wish you never said that lol. I didn't manage to delete the installation file. I tried to do that in the browser ftp. Don't suppose you have any idea how you can have new members private messages off until they're activated by admin? I know I've seen it done but no idea how they did it. I'm googling away to see if I can find out though lol.
  18. Oh you are a star! I had not a clue to do that! Yes its all working and I'm so happy! Thank you for all your help TheDragon
  19. Now there is where the problem lies. I don't even understand the question!
  20. I think I'm the serious problem! I so wish I had a clue lol. Anyway, I really do not understand what to do and I know it'll be obvious to you. I dropped the files in the right folders using my ftp and put the upgrade on too. You're supposed to click on it and open it. I open it and it opens in dreamweaver. No idea what I'm supposed to do with it now though. Am I supposed to just upload it using dreamweaver as it is to the same file as it came from.
  21. If I go to delete the install folder it says An error occurred deleting the file or folder on the FTP server. Make sure you have permission to access this folder Should I just ask my host to delete that for me then?
  22. Email is sorted. I'd not put a correct setting in. So all my fault! Yes, I'm an idiot. Now for the updating forums.
  23. Cheers! I was hoping it would be a case of something like that but so far everything seems to be more complicated. I am now in the process of trying to find out why I can't get new member thing working, they can apply but the email isn't sent. Can't find anything I've not ticked or whatever, but that doesn't mean it isn't there.
  24. ErisDS - sorry had the post open for so long then before I clicked send I'd not read your last post. I mainly want a forum based thing, not sure how many of the other features I'm gonna use yet. I really have not a clue what I'm doing but I really wanted to have a go and well you never learn anything just sitting there dong nothing. So I got a domain and here I am..........complety stuck and not understanding most of it! lol. I shall put the install error up tomorrow and you can see what you think, that was my first problem I encountered....then we'll go to the next lol. Btw, while you're there. Is it easy to just add your own banner. At the moment I'm going to try to just get to grips with it and find my way around before I even think of changing more stuff. I can't even upgrade the forum, goodness knows what kind of mess I could make if I try to do too much. The banner change would be good though, don't really fancy having Nuke at the top of it for good. TheDragon
