Hi all. I'm just a little confused, please go easy as this may seem like a total novice question, which I am. On a website, when you enter the website, what part of it is the shopping cart and what part is the website. By that I mean, if I am looking at a website and browsing through it, what is the cart(software) and what is the actual designed website? So how far would you actually design a website. Would it be colours, header, footer, policy's and terms, and like links to product pages and then the actual products and information of products i.e. Price, details, delivery are part of the shopping cart? I hope someone can help me clear this up. Any further info on this topic would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the information! I have considered using such resources as shopify. While I see the practicality in it and the suitability for a new online business, I feel that options a quite limited and charges are much higher. I have ambitions of creating an online business and plan to design the website myself using a WYSIWYG web design software. There is no doubt that I will have some learning to do, but I am determined to build by own site. Not just out of stubbornness, I also want to learn how to do it myself so that I can do it independently which will help if I choose to build other site or help other. So, I have looked deeply into how to build a site for business but I have fallen at the debatable first three hurdles. If I buy a licensed shopping cart, which I would prefer to do, how would I integrate it into my WYSIWYG software? Also if you could explain how the payment gateways and merchant account fit together it would be a great help. If you have any further information that would be useful regarding these subjects, I would be a very appreciative noob! Thanks.
