  6. @webdesigner93 Nothing against Wordpress at all, I just like to try and learn as much as I can and I find that doing it from the bottom up is the best way, I find once I have done it once I can do it again. but sometimes time is against me! I havent touched PHP for a couple years, im not even sure what the latest one is tbh, so its a good opportunity to learn, - thing is the client is going to want something professional probably quicker than it takes me to learn it. - shame, he loved my designs and galleries! but I set myself up for a fail because I turned around the design so quickly for him! @andy9l, no i dont mean Yammer, - think of an estate agents where they put up houses for sale and then their staff can put them up and take them down at will. THats the closest thing I can think of.
  7. Ok, Thanks for the response. I can do 1 and 2 but I will need to read up on 3. I was hoping to use hosting agents like godaddy for my hosting for quickness. I will have to have a look and research for the MYSQL database, - but if anyone reads this wants to give me a quote as a backup then thats cool.
  8. Hi, I'm a part time webdesigner being a 2nd job from my regular. I consider myself intermediate as I can use HTML and CSS and have made a few websites commercially with some success, but Iv'e tried to shy away from PHP and MySQL as its a bit out of my comfort area. However I have just been asked to do some work that I fear is either beyond me or Is going to be more difficult than I thought, so I thought I would sign up on here and ask for some advice, Basically, I've been asked by a company to provide an upload service so that they can upload and remove pictures and descriptions from their website themselves. The service they provides miniature advertisements that need to be uploaded and removed daily by their own staff. So I have a couple of questions. 1) how do I create an upload area that customers to the site can view, - I assume a Database held on the hosting server? 2) how do I make it then simple enough for a non-technical staff member to be able to upload it? Thinking about it, They want almost an internal mini-facebook ability, able to post the advertisements, edit them and delete them as required. Any help would be greatly appreciated, - or even a nudge in the right direction. many thanks John.
