Photos for websites
Either the client provides the content wen the initial design is made or I will use stock images. I use placeholder images such as: http://placehold.it/ when in the build phase. - Allan

[Help on photoshop]How can i do this on photoshop?
Hi Uninvited, Firstly, don't worry - Photoshop is a powerful tool and it can take years to master, I'm not gonna discourage you however!. It can take years for somone to "Master it" - I whipped something up quick for you, I hope you find it useful. The textures you see in your example where done mostly with pre defines patterns, you can find these online with a quick search. You apply patterns to layers to give cetain effects, for example the black effect is often reffered to as "Carbon Fibre". Here's the textures I whipped up for you, - Allan

A website I made
Hi Markvog, I feel the page lacks branding/personality. Some features I would add/look into: - A company image/ portfolio image in the background of the main hero unti at the top. (You may wish to use a blurred image of a page the company has created, maybe a photo of a staff member) - Your oragne contact buttons feel unnatural. The one in the header is too small, if you are using it as a Call To Action, I suggest increasing its size (and thus, its visual hieriarchy). I would look into the hover effect of the buttons, you should be lowering the border on the bottom, not moving it to the top. I would also use pure css and not an image for this. - The website design icon is blurred yet the other two icons are not. I would suggest getting high quality png's from IconMonstr (they are free for personal and commercial use!) - The about us section lacks content. You should again look into adding some personality/bran here. I would suggest a small inline photo on the left side, content on the right. - The contact form is the same as the account section, add content to the left (a map of the local area, why the client should contact you, etc etc) with the form on the right side. - The footer's latest posts - these should be stacked "snippests" - e.g a title and a line of paragraph from the Latest posts. A user wants to read as many posts as possible so they can see if anything takes their fancy. These are all my opinions and I hope you get chance to experiment with them, let me know how you get on and I will take another look! - Allan

Responsive design - need to hide certain page elements on mobile devices
Hi Marktea, I have no issues with the header in the various stages of it being responsive, you could keep the social buttons in the top if you wanted, but here are my suggested changes I think you should apply to your mobile media query: - Center the phone number - Move the menu button to the center, add a background color + some padding to the text. I would personally add an :after pesudo element (maybe a drop down arrow) to indicate to the user that the menu is infact a drop down. - If you do wish to get rid of the social buttons in the header but not the footer simply add the following to your media query. .top-menu #social { display: none; } (as a side note, your footer social icons are housed in a duplicate id "social" of the header, change this to a class to ensure everything is valid . I would recommend you get rid of the slider on mobile devices, it simply takes too much real estate up on the page. The news posts on the home page work well (maybe cetner the titles, add some spacing around the edges). Of course all of this is just opinion, feel free to ask if you need anything else, Allan
