I am a Media lecturer teaching a module on web design. Students are required to build their own website (they will be using Wordpress.com to do so, as the budget does not allow for each student to make a self-hosted website), but we are also trying to build a Class Website where we will publish the best of the students work (taken from their individual websites), along with a Twitter feed and links to social media etc. Is multi-user Wordpress only available for self-hosted Wordpress websites, or is it possible to make a multi-user site on a Wordpress.com website? The chances are, we will host the Class website ourselves, so we have more control over it, but I was wondering if anyone could point out any major disadvantages to multi-user Wordpress websites (whether self-hosted or Wordpress.com hosted)?

Is your CSS file located in the same folder as your fonts? The links to the fonts are relative, ie: If your css file is in public_html/wp-content/themes/themename/ and you refer to a font in fonts/font_name.tff Then you path you're targeting public_html/wp-content/themes/themename/fonts/font_name.tff Make sure your paths follow logically, remembering the font path is relative to your CSS file.
