  1. Hey everyone, I have finally found some time to work on my website again. Here's what i've got so far. Any feedback would be great The text under the navigation bar is actually a slider so you will only see 1 subject at a time. Just wanted to illustrate all of them though
  2. Welcome to the forum David. I must say i'm kinda impressed by the back end you've written. (Can't really see everything but the front end tells the back end )
  3. A good tip I have learned so far: Don't be satisfied from your first attempt. Always look for improvement and watch your website like a visitor would do. That way you can find the spots where your visitor will try to find the information he/she needs. Now about your effects: Less Is More sometimes, keep it subtle. Oh and try both with and without something, if it doesn't look a lot better with something then it's not really needed. Maybe you can also go for a multiple column layout - main content left and a sidebar on the right or something?
  4. It's very simple and empty, which isn't that bad if you play it smart. I would add some more content and images so that you can see where the attention really goes and how the big buttons look compared to the content. (add some more plates or something) As for your layout and typography: experiment with different lay-outs, fonts and maybe align your buttons text.
  5. I use Photoshop all the time but I'm looking for an alternative for when we can't use photoshop anymore. Can't be carefull enough nowadays
  6. I must follow Natyk and Teodora. WordPress is not that hard to use if you want a simple design with alot of features. I heard some good things about artisteer for beginners so It may be worth to take a look . However if you really want a custom design and customized features you probably have to learn some programming language Goodluck
  7. I like it but you should check the size (especially the width of the website). It gives me a horizontal scroll bar for 3-4 letters. (Macbook pro 13 inch)
  8. Welcome to the forum
  9. Hey guys, I'm working on a new project and the base is a vertical scrolling website and i'm going to use parallax alot but i don't know that much of it yet so for now i would like to know how i can have a fixed menubar at the top but only when you aren't on the index page. So I don't want a fixed navigation bar on the top page (index part) but only when the user scrolls to the following pages ( scrolling down to 'about us' ... ) Can someone help me pls?
  10. First thing I would do is to add a little bit of margin at the top of the bold titles. And maybe you can take a look - google dot com/fonts/ They are easy to implement and there are some awesome fonts out there.
  11. Hey all, I'm planning to create a vertical scrolling website but I wanna design it in photoshop first. However I don't really know a good size - scale to work on in photoshop. Does anybody have a template or good setting for me ? Thanks in advance
  12. I like the new orange logo the most. Second for me is the purple one. I don't really like the red one. Love the expression of the orange monster.
  13. I'm working on a new portfolio website for me and my friend . We will add 3 designs in the future but so far I've only done the landing page . you can view the design as it is on the moment (not finished yet) on our website: jolu. be (cant' post links yet) I'm still very new to html and css so I can use some constructive replies, tips, ...
  14. Fixed it . Thanks for the support. Oh and btw I wanna clear things up a little for the smart ones out here . I'm using JoLu as my title of the website. I know Jochemke very well in real life and we have to do this project together and we have chosen to use his portfolio for this project.
  15. Did you input something into css to get the images centered all the time?
  16. Did you input something in css to get them centered all the time? And yea it's working now found a little error in my setup
  17. imageshack . us/ photo/ my-images/ 842 /schermafbeelding2013031fu. png/ this is my (temporarily) layout. I have attached my files. I hope you guys can figure out why it ain't working with me. index.html layout.css
  18. I used Skeleton now for my new design. But i'm having trouble already. I want to have 3 images on 1 line (floating left basically) and i accomplished that in a few ways. one-third column feature or just the 3 images in number column. Problem is when you decrease the size to mobile they go vertically instead of staying horizontally. I want them to change size as the browser increase/decreases size. Is that possible to get? I tried using max-width: 100% and height: auto; without succes. The size of the images is now 125 x 125 pixels. When I decrease it to 75 x 75 they are staying horizontally. (but do not increase/decrease size.)
  19. Can you explain me what Less is actually? I see it popping up here and there but i don't really know what it is or what it does?
  20. Thanks for the reply. That clears things up a lot. I'm gonna start with Skeleton as I've self - written documentation from my teacher webdesign & development . When I understand it enough I'll give the others a try aswell .
  21. Are foundation, semantic_js and bootstrap the same kind of frameworks as Skeleton is? If so, are they better than skeleton?
  22. I used to search on good-tutorials. com. I don't find everything there but still a lot i need.
  23. Thanks for the advise. I'll search around and gather some more images/ lay out ideas. I'll get back when i have a part ready.
  24. I'm sorry that i confused you a bit. I'll try to make it clear. So I have to create 1 landing page. From that landing page the user will have the ability to choose which form/design of the website he/she wants. The user gets the choice for: 1) A to the point, simple version of the website 2) Specially made for mobile devices 3) A very creative and eyecatching design. On all the 3 choices the content and information will be the same. It's just the design/lay out that changes. We also have to design/develop those versions so it isn't just the landing page. It's basically something like this: type http:// www . ericj . se/ in your browser ( I can't add urls yet due to restrictions). when you click this link you receive the Creative version of his website and on that one you get the choice to go to the regular, simple, business version. I would like to use this website as my portfolio website aswell. So that people can see that I can do Simple to Creative to Mobile sites. I hope you can understand it better now.
  25. Thanks for all the advise so far. I have some ideas now for the landing page and also for the mobile and simple design parts. But do you guys have ideas for the creative design part? I have to create a landing page that directs to 3 different websites yet the same content/info. So 1 simple one (got some ideas), 1 mobile design (got some ideas) and 1 creative design (don't have a good idea)
