column width issue
anyone know what's going on with the centre column in this website? it's fine on this page but seems to be an extra few pixels wide on some others - like this one... it's been created with a template (dwt) so maybe an error there? eighty0ne

hi all, I am banging my head trying to figure out formmail again... everytime I use it things go wrong, no matter how careful I am! contact form is here formmail is here thanks redirect page here permissions on formmail folder (711) and formmail.pl (755) formmail.pl edited in MS WordPad and saved as MS-DOS Text Document anyone got a clue? yours hopefully, eighty0ne- Right Column
ok - well I am glad it works in the browser again but if anyone knows how to fix it in dreamweaver, I'd be very grateful - it's one of those annoying niggles, eh?! cheers again, eighty0ne- Right Column
hey ySuran, thanks for the tip.. this seems to work - see the link again however, my dreamweaver dwt template (and respective files, including sample.html) are still displayed wrong (see attached image) any thoughts? eighty0ne- Right Column
damn it, my right column fell off the end - I changed something but I can't remember what - can anyone help?! I am sure it's very simple but I can't see it for looking! here is link yours hopefully, eighty0ne- .htaccess - members only
hi Thomas, thanks for taking a look - the answer is the second option, just one folder but each member has their own pass/username giving them access apart from the grim redirect Auth Req page, which appears if/when a user enters the wrong details or clicks Cancel at the prompt, the current setup is ok (for now) unless there is a very simple 'better way' (?!) cheers ~ eighty0ne- .htaccess - members only
thanks Rachel, much appreciated - I have had a quick look at that tutorial - reckon it will take me a while to understand and implement - tbh, I am a bit scared of trashing the site - PHP looks like a whole new bag of things I can mess up! seriously though, I will build up my confidence and give it a go at some point - in the meantime, does anyone have an answer to the .htaccess Auth Req redirect issue? is this possible? as it would be a short term resolve for the site owner...- .htaccess - members only
by the way, if you click Cancel when asked for user/password, you are sent to a very ugly Authorization Required page is there any way to redirect to my own, slightly friendlier, auth req page?! cheers, eighty0ne x- .htaccess - members only
duh, would have helped if i had saved my access settings - should be protected now- .htaccess - members only
thanks for the link Rachel - I will take a look through any idea how come you can see the content of my password protected folder?!- .htaccess - members only
hello again - new question regarding SAWBUA basically, I have created a very basic members only area - by password protecting the /members folder the current system is: a new member registers (we are not expecting many) via the register form, requesting a user/pass etc - we then manually assign their request via cPanel WebProtect then email them back confirming their request - they can now log into the members only area firstly, could someone confirm that they cannot gain access to this members folder without a user/pass secondly, .htaccess does not seem to offer a logout option - a bit of research suggests that due to .htaccess not understanding the concept of a 'session', this is not an option (without some kind of fiddly fix with fakeuser:fakepass which doesn't work on IE anyway) so, it seems... once a new user has signed in, they are logged in for life?! (i can't even log myself out) finally, what is the next step (the simplest one) for setting up a proper members area - I fear it might be to do with MySQL/PHP which I have never used - although they are features on the UK2 hosting - offering a MySQL database wizard and phpMyAdmin- submit opens formmail.pl
got it - had to use http://www.sawbua.org/thanks.html schoolboy error it works now, but out of interest, is this the proper way to do it? thanks to all those who helped eighty0ne x- submit opens formmail.pl
hi again, I tried the following: <input type='hidden' name="redirect" value="www.sawbua.org/thanks.html"> but got error as expected:- submit opens formmail.pl
Hi Paul, Thanks for this. The formmail.pl was working all along then? I removed the redirect link section and now receive the default formmail thankyou page: How do I go about redirecting to my own thanks.html page if it is in the root? The form wants to look in the cgi-bin for it! Maybe if I tried an external www link in the form code? - eg. www.sawbua.org/thanks.html eighty0ne- submit opens formmail.pl
hi Cari, thanks for your kind words of encouragement i think this is the code you are after? <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action="/cgi-bin/formmail.pl"> <input type='hidden' name="recipient" value="info@sawbua.org"/> <input type='hidden' name="subject" value="SAWBUA Contact Form Results"/> <input type='hidden' name="redirect" value="thanks.html"> let me know if not and I will dig around a bit better oh, you might also be interested in my formmail.pl settings? (formmail.pl is in my UK2 cgi-bin along with the thanks.html page - permissions set to 755 on folder and all files) $mailprog = '/usr/sbin/sendmail'; @referers = ('sawbua.org','www.sawbua.org'); @recipients = &fill_recipients(@referers,'sawbua.org','info@sawbua.org'); @valid_ENV = ('REMOTE_HOST','REMOTE_ADDR','REMOTE_USER','HTTP_USER_AGENT'); i have also tried $mailprog = '/usr/bin/sendmail'; yours hopefully, eighty0ne ps. could it be to do with UK2's settings on my cgi-bin?- submit opens formmail.pl
hey all - bit of an update on the site - still having issues with formmail though have spent the best part of the afternoon trying to get it working - any thoughts? LINK neither the 'register' nor the 'contact' forms work...- submit opens formmail.pl
the message under the Internal Server Error reads: Apache/2.2.9 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.9 OpenSSL/0.9.7a DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 mod_fastcgi/2.4.6 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at sawbua.org Port 80- submit opens formmail.pl

hi all, could anyone tell me why my submit button attempts to open formmail.pl rather than submit the form?! link cheers, eighty0ne- submit opens formmail.pl
