  1. Try to add: #navigation ul li:hover ul { left: 0; top: 100%; }
  2. You are right, top level menu is a list, position: relative was already added, as well as top: 30 declaration. The only missing thing was left declaration.
  3. Hello Jack, as I can see, the submenu displays in a wrong place, way too far to the right side. To solve this this issue, simply add a following line to one of Your CSS files: .sub-menu { left: 0; top: 35px !important; } It should fix this. Thanks, Paul
  4. Hey, just put this code between <head> tags: <!--[if lt IE 9]><script src="http://html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script><![endif]--> Also, You might need to add CSS line like: article, section, header, footer, aside { display: block; }
  5. Here's another useful technique - SmartOptymizer.

    Try to use a jquery script called Uploadify. Also, do some Google research using keywords like "jquery input file" etc. You'll find few more or less know scripts. You could also use CSS to hide a input button using opacity. It might be sufficient solution, depends on Your needs.
  7. Few hints: - use sprites - optimize images (and use them wisely) - use server compression - use cache They are several of the most important things You might need. Also, download Firebug, Google Page Speed and ySlow.
  8. Hello, that's hard to say imo, I had similar issue with spacebars and had to put to make them work properly. The problem is that such strange behaviour might be specyfic for particular font. Also, You might try to include all chars in font face generator. Thanks, Paul
  9. Well, hard to say, try to check the website using native IE environments and You will see. But I think that it won't cause any errors.
  10. Well, You did not put it correctly (IE doesn't find it). Put it just below <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> - I am almost sure it would help.
  11. Hello, I think that You should post a source code rather than screenshot
  12. To be honest, changing sizes is a bit out-of-date issue because it mainly affected zooming in IE6. I am not 100% sure if it still happens in IE8 because I always use relative font sizes Well, neuralgic element is the element causing problems (I am not sure if such comparison appears in English). According to the IE issues, it's really hard to find it, sometimes that's a container, sometimes particular layout element, I sometimes spot this problem working with JS sliders in IE. IE has a slightly different understading of elements, just google for the hasLayout to find out more.
  13. IE Tester might not understand this rule becuase it sets the default rendering method. Please try to implement the second techqniue and I will check later using native IE7 and IE8. In general, if it's possible avoid using IE tester.
  14. Hello, nice to meet You. Lynda is amazing source of knowledge, I also used to buy a single year membership and can say it gave me some basic info about programs like Illustrator or InDesign. PS: don't use xHTML, it's HTML5 time
  15. Few good tips regarding both Sold Out block and IE8 troubleshooting. As I see, You used absolute positioning for the block, it's properly center aligned in Firefox but not in IE8. Try to use position: absolute; left: 50%; margin-left: negative half of image width (example: margin-left: -40px; ). Another tip, which You might like even more (because no testing will be required), simply add the following line to the <head> of Your document: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7; IE=EmulateIE9" />
  16. Clean, easy, professional and interesting. The only think I do not like is using Swedish domain as a part of website name, but that's more personal.
  17. I think it's a bit too schematic, I personally like layouts using non-standard structure. Also, try to use some gaming patterns, colors, make it more game-oriented.

    For me each browser that supports web standards is a good one. Personally, I use Firefox, but I like the minimalism used in Chrome.
  19. As I currently browse using IE8, it seems to be fixed, but some good tips: 1. Try to manipulate adding position: relative to some neuralgic elements. 2. Use relative font sizes (when fonts break) - example: ems instead of points or percent instead of pixels. 3. Also, You might try to add zoom: 1; CSS property, but You have to be aware that such problems are usually very confusing and hard to fix. I hope it helped, Paul

    It's a good habit to add also width: 100% - for IE6, I know it's rarely supported but why not.
  21. That is why there are no my companies
  22. I think when there is no valuable data anymore.
  23. You could go one step further and put <img> within a <h1> tag. It's more clear from the semantics perspective. <div class="header"> <h1><img src="logo24.png" width="150" height="95" alt="Lotus Design and Print Limited" title="Lotus Design and Print Limited" /></h1> </div>
  24. So far I do not want to take a direct profit so You won't find my company there. This had been made mainly to gather and classify data and after a while I found out that I could do a rating directory of xhtml/css companies. For now it's only for knowledge, no my companies, no ads, just a clear tables with detailed data. But I plan to at least one of my websites so this project will actually be a way of promoting myself.
  25. You are right, I am still collecting more and more companies to assess. It would be impossible to collect all of them, but we will be definitely able to spot and assess the most remarkable ones. And I belive that will be sufficient for customers also.
