  1. I am the same as you Connor, just finished my first year of university and I am doing a lot of research into web design / development. I have taught myself HTML, CSS some javascript and I am currently learning PHP. I'm also trying to follow tutorials online on how to design website in Photoshop slice them and code them. I find myself losing concentration and wondering onto something else. One minute I will be learning the fundamentals of PHP/MYSQL next think you know I'm on Photoshop trying to create a design. I just need to focus on something and complete it.
  2. I would recommend that there is too much information on the homepage, I would only keep the most important items there such as the yellow search box and make more use of the full screen.
  3. Does anyone have any tutorials that are very informative for beginners but straight forward, I find myself getting lost on creating designs on Photoshop as they are so large and detailed. Looking for simple tutorials first. I already have learnt a great amount of XHTML and CSS so coding them shouldn't be an issue. Thanks!
  4. Hello everyone I am a beginner web designer/developer. Joined these forums to help improve my skills and to obtain the knowledge to maybe start my own small web design business.
  5. What you are trying to do is using a form to input/store data into a database. Firstly as the above post states you must understand and be able to write SQL. Knowing SQL will allow you to create tables and run queries on the tables to return results. More specifically if you want to jump in head over heels I would recommend you check out the following page: Won't let me insert links yet, I will private message you the link. You should also install a local server on your system such as XAMPP or WAMP, so that you can play around with the code and view the results instantly. These servers come with MYSQL and Phpmyadmin. Good luck!
  6. Hello I was wondering if the method that I have picked up to create webpages is bad. I start by creating the different areas of my website using CSS blocks. I then would create like a banner/logo code it in, next create a navigation bar and code it in, followed by content area, and footer. Does anyone else do this??
