A more subtle gradient and I think you might be there. The bottom red in the gradient is the one that bothers me. It's just so bright!

Wow, looks really nice. I think it might look better with less space at the top though. Also a minor thing, but I keep expecting the social icons to have a similar hover state to the main navigation. If you could implement that into both the social icons and the contact form it would be almost perfect from a graphical perspective. As for the coding, right now all your content is images, which isn't going to be good for accessibility or search engine optimization I'm afraid. :/ I think it would benefit you to enter the text under the portfolio examples with html. Is it possible to do it with these jquery sliders?

Hey Steve, There's a few changes that I think would make it look better: 1. The background doesn't work too well I'm afraid. On my monitor I can see it repeating horizontally, which only looks good for tiled patterns. Either get an entirely new image - something with a really large width, and preferably one that blends to a solid color on each side. That way you center the background image and set the page's background color as the solid color from before. 2. The negative spaces are really interesting from the combinations of rounded corners and flat corners. However it would look so much better if the border lines were aliased better. 3. Finally, on the main text in 'about us' and 'services', I reckon there could be 15px padding on the right hand side. Hope that helps a bit.

Basic but elegant is a very good description, I really like it. Only thing that I think might make it look better would be a change of font for the main body text. Something sans-serif would look nicer I think. Keep the serif font on the headers though, works really well there. Oh, also the pictures could do with lots more contrast. I think they would look great almost as a line drawing.

Huge improvement. I like the addition of that new brownish colour. I wonder if you could include that into the other pages a little too. Just feels more warm and welcoming with it. Or perhaps use the orange from the bunny in the logo to complement the blue. Anyways, good work! EDIT: One more thing, the website right now doesn't show exactly which page you're on. I figure a good way of introducing the colour throughout the rest of the pages would be to make the active page this new colour in the navigation.

Hey Dave. I have nothing major against the site except that everything seems too big. The width for example, 1250 pixels means people with monitor screens of 1024x768 pixels will never even see the left and right of border design you created. I would squish everything down a bit, making the maximum width something like 960 or 980 pixels. I think the whole site would look more professional that way too.

It's centered for me now. Well, just the homepage.

Zed's right. I'd maybe take the slider away from the About and Services page entirely. It does it's job on the Home page though, and I think it looks really good. But why is the slider control part intentionally pixelated? Doesn't really fit with the rest of the design in my opinion. Bt the way, very nice logo!

Nice site. I'd say in the Contact section, it would be nice to have a contact form linking directly to your email address rather than just the link.

In your Home page, the 'my-website-info div is within the 'container' div, but in Blog it is not. Just rearrange the coding on the blog page so it is in the container. That way when it is floated right or left it will only go to the edge of the 960 pixels rather than the edge of the screen. Should work I think. EDIT: Nevermind, Rubots beat me to it.

Definitely liking the footer more now! The only thing left that bothers me is the slight change in boldness when you hover over the navigation items. I just don't like the way the letters shift slightly, but apart from that it's awesome. I'm especially enjoying the colours you've picked. EDIT: By navigation, I mean in the header rather than the footer.

I have a feeling the 'Independent Lives' site might have been designed in December 2010, rather than December 2011. Very nice work though!
