Rockstar reacted to Renaissance-Design in Review my client's siteAlways, always mark up phone numbers with something like:
<a class="phone" href="tel:+17185992333">718-599-2333</a>
Means that anyone viewing the site on their phone (or on their desktop with a compatible PBX and browser plugin) can just click or tap to call.

Rockstar reacted to evu in How to make an screenshot effect like this...?Not the best at photoshop but had a quick go.
Hard to get the exact angle... You need:
A pattern that's akin to a monitor screen. Try Googling "Scanlines in Photoshop".
A rainbow gradient with about 10% opacity to create the other monitor RGB effect.
Transform the screenshot, the only hard bit to get perfect.
Duplicate screenshot layer and apply a gaussian blur to it, then a mask and mask out the bits you don't want blured.
Here's a psd to gander on.
Goodluck,
~evu.

Rockstar got a reaction from Lev in CSS clearfixThe problem happens when a floated element is within a container box, that element does not automatically force the container’s height adjust to the floated element. When an element is floated, its parent no longer contains it because the float is removed from the flow. You can use 2 methods to fix it:
{clear: both;}
clearfix
Once you understand what is happening, use the method below to “clearfix” it.
DEMO
Source code for webtoolkit.clearfix.css
.clearfix:after {
content: ".";
display: block;
clear: both;
visibility: hidden;
line-height: 0;
height: 0;
}
.clearfix {
display: inline-block;
}
html[xmlns] .clearfix {
display: block;
}
* html .clearfix {
height: 1%;
}

Rockstar reacted to superkaty in Feedback for web site designIt's definitely nice, but I think you need to work a bit on the typography: three different fonts for the navigation and body text?! It looks suspiciously like you've just randomly stuck a pin in a list of fonts for each different section at the moment - I would just stick with one if I were you.
If the "Who we are" text isn't just filler, it needs a serious reworking, because there are quite a few grammatical errors in there (also, the word "technopreneuers" makes me want to poke my eyes out with a rusty fork, but that's probably just me). Also: "Recent Projects" and "Our clients say". Plural, innit.
I reckon a bit more white space between the main content and the footer might also give it a bit more room to breathe, because there's quite a lot going on in a relatively small space otherwise.
Also, the header's 1px too wide on the left side. Y'know, just in case someone happens to be browsing your site while brandishing a ruler (IT HAPPENS)...
Other than that, it's really good though! I like the blue. (I'm such a girl!)

Rockstar got a reaction from DigitalSquid in what software should i be experienced with?Be sure what type of program you should enter basically means that you need to decide whether you enjoy coding or design.
If you go with design recommended software is Photoshop. Learn Photoshop from Lynda or Total Training library. Area you should get familiar is on typography, Effective web design layouts, color theory, Web Usability.

Rockstar got a reaction from Lev in How a web design goes straight to hell?Funny comic strip of how web design consulting usually goes once the client start reeling people in to help. Although this comic strip (from the Oatmeal) is hilarious… the problem is, it hits too close to home for some of us.
