  1. Hi I'm not new to Google adwords (PPC) but i wouldn't call myself an expert. This is an area i'm looking to vastly improve on. I've looked at some courses and they are around £495 ex vat. I've also come across the Google adwords certification program which is $50 per exam, theres 5 of them i think. Has anybody else done this course or can you recommend possibly another course i can take ? Thanks Paul
  2. Hi, after 8 months in development our website has finally been upgraded. There's still a lot of content to be added and products in the wrong categories but i would appreciate people's views on the site. Our line of business is the selling of laptops and accessories and the website is : www.whichlaptop.co.uk Many Thanks Paul
  3. Hi, after around 8 months in production we're about to launch our new website which is a much improved version of the last one. Does anyone have any ideas on where to start with a launch promotion ? We are going to be doing PPC and the designers are actively working on SEO for organic listings but i would like to maybe try some other things. Thanks Paul
  4. We haven't actually ran any ads yet, just getting the information from google about what clicks we can expect from the ads. I looked into the branded laptop chargers but the information i was getting was 0 clicks no matter what CPC i entered. I'm now aware that this is probably down to lower search volume and the fact that 80% of searches don't click on the sponsored ads.
  5. Thanks for the information Gareth. Our ads haven't actually run yet as we are waiting for the new website to launch. I'm justing testing using the google tools at the moment. We are actually based in Liverpool also.
  6. Hi, thanks for the information. I've been running some tests with google adwords and come across an issue. I'm trying to set up an ad for [Laptop Chargers]. No matter what CPC i put in or daily maximum i still get the same results. See Below : These are with £2.00 CPC and £1000 daily budget. Maximum CPC: Daily budget: Keywords Search Volume Estimated Avg. CPC Estimated Ad Positions Estimated Clicks/Day Estimated Cost/Day [laptop chargers] £0.91 - £1.16 1 - 3 1 £1 - £2 If the keyword is generating 9,900 searches per month why would i only receive 1 click per day with this budget ? Oh and site address is Whichlaptop.co.uk. Take no notice of the site in its current format as we are launching our new site next week, hence all my questions for adwords !! Thanks Paul
  7. just a note, its 40,500 local searches, not global.
  8. I've been doing some research into Google adwords and the google keyword tool in particular. According to the tool the search term : Laptop chargers is generating 40,500 monthly searches. However my website is currently 6/7 on the 1st page on google for the search term yet i only generated 91 visits to my site in the same month. 40,500 monthly searches / 91 visits to my site, it seems something is not right. Anyone got any ideas ?
  9. Hi, i'm about to launch a new and updated version of our companys website. After about 5 years and 2 web site companies we finally have a site which is exactly what we need. My site is linked directly to our suppliers so there isn't much work involved on a day to day basis for me so i was seriously considering learning the art of SEO and PPC to promote it. Is this is a sensible idea or not ? How long would it take for me to learn to be an expert at this ? I see my future in selling online and think that this might be a good thing not just for my new site but my future ventures. I am not exactly what you call a beginner when it comes to PPC, HTML, Meta tags etc but i'm not advanced either. Another question is where would i start ? Thanks Paul
  10. Hi, i'm sick and tired of waiting for my current web designers to implement the changes i have asked from them, and i had the same problems with my previous designers. I'm now 4 years into a project and spent over £50,000 trying to get this off the ground and it's now do or die. I do actually have a working website but i need to make more changes to it and it's only attracting around 300 visitors per day so i only receiving 1 order per day on average. This is not acceptable. My question is : i have some knowledge of HTML, dreamweaver, shall i start learning myself ? What about SEO, graphic design, database programming, PPC campaigns ? Do i learn these also ? I don't have more money to put into this project but i do have time, any professional advice would be great, and also where do i start ? it's a minefield. Thanks Paul
  11. Yes i understand what you are saying Dizi, what i meant was is it technically possible to do this ? would there is issues in doing it this way that you may know of or had experience with ? I'm gathering the free lancer would need ftp access to the files ? (forgive me if this may sound silly but i'm not a web designer !! ) Thanks
  12. Hi Is it possible to work with a free lancer and my current web design company ? My current website is maintained by the company that designed it and they obviously know how the database runs etc, if i wanted to employ a free lancer to design for example new centre column home page or alter the graphical look of a page can i do that and then get my web design company to implement it ? What about the design of new banners etc ? I know you may think why don't i get my current company to do this but they take weeks to get anything done (as most of my budget with them is taken up by SEO). I would appreciate your expert opinions on this. I don't want to end up in a position where i sever ties with my current company and then have to get a whole new database done etc because only the design company knows how it works. Many thanks Paul
  13. Has anyone on here ever worked on a profit related pay scheme ? If a client doesn't have enough to pay for their website work this could be an alternative. Anyone got any opinions on this subject ?
  14. THanks for the advice, i could really do with a full time web master but my site currently doesn't make enough to probably support their wages. I think free lance looks like the way to go for now until my circumstances change !!
  15. Hi I have a laptop e-commerce site with over 20,000 products available. As mentioned in an earlier topic i will be looking for either a free lance web person or a full time web person to take over the running of our website. On what basis is it best to decide which avenue to go down ? I like the idea of working with a full time web person as i can work with them side by side, alternatively using a free lancer doesn't put as much of a financial strain on the busines as the new site is still a pretty new venture. What sort of salary will i be looking at paying a full timer against a free lancer ? Any ideas which will make my decision easier ? Many thanks Paul
