OK, bigger font, slight change to li button. Blue border gone. Still a bit of shading (don't tell Glowbridge!). My wife is complaining that I keep changing it. I think I will let it run as is for a bit now ...... Maybe time to look into those Google fonts.

Thanks Wendersvaloo. Re. fonts - tried to make the most of what I have at the moment - not learned about Google web fonts yet. Re. Orange bullet points - I find the little black ones too boring! I may increase font size so that the orange squares are better proportioned. Will try without the border! Brave new changes.

I too find the text too light and too small by default. I also think that the logo could do with a makeover. Looks too simplistic for a company associated with art / design.

RE the markup and DIVS - I am using Wordpress, and to get those boxes I used a plugin. I guess the plugin builds up the styles by combining layers / divs. Maybe once I have chosen a style I could combine them into one? Not too keen on one sidebar background at the moment. Also worried that losing the light blue background at the moment will leave it too empty. The idea is to highlight that content and separate it on the homepage.

It is very business like. I agree with Andy, the tabs at the bottom do not work. Probably better to have that as another page and a nav link to it. Do you chose the copy too? The form is a bit wordy. Not obvious what the difference between "what is career coaching?" and "is it for me?" is. Do I read both? Just one? Also, will the URL / domain be careercoaching.* ? If not, then I would find it confusing to have CareerCoaching as the bigger letters.

I have been working hard on my design this week. Yesterday I ran it through the Five Second Test site and one response was: "Honestly, it looks quite dated". Is it that bad? I thought it looked good. Certainly much better than it was, IMO! Web link below:

Many thanks Wendersvaloo! So true. That is half the battle - I want to appeal to everyone! I like the final choice too. I think I will stick to that. Now working more on the other design features. Now have rounded corners!

Not sure. There is a Free Select Tool to mark around an object, I could try that, but I usually end up with a mess!

I agree. It is my favourite image but my attempts to change the background failed. With the top one I used colour swap in GIMP, but the whites are too bright on her trousers and shoes to do same here.

I am struggling to decide which image is best to use. I get both positive and negative feedback for both - some say one is too unrealistic, not attainable for most people. while others say it is inspirational. The other image is warming and friendly, nothing negative, just not what you normally see on such sites. So, if you don't mind voting "top" "middle" or "bottom" and saying why, that would be great. Thanks guys. What are breakpoints? I shrunk the width in the hope that it would "fit" better, but I guess that misses the point doesn't it? Will look at that framework theme.

I have installed a "responsive theme" to try to get pages to look good on both mobiles and PCs. I have set the content area to 300px. It looks OK on my old G1 which has a small screen, although only in landscape mode. Is it acceptable or should I reduce width more to get it to look better on mobile? My thoughts are that in time looking good (well, being readable) on mobile is going to be more important than how it looks on PC. The site: Medimise.com

Wordpress can be great for SEO. The SEO consultant does not sound like he knows what he is talking about thb. "the most important information along with keywords should be higher up in the source code" Maybe 10 years ago? keywords? If he is talking about META keyword, run, run fast!

Wow, almost 4 years since I started this thread. I cannot remember what the site was like then, I should have added a screenshot. Well, new design and layout. New logo (already old now), hopefully better menu, de-cluttered (but de-cluttered enough?).

Makes sense. Actually, I only recently had to reinstall Vista on my PC (hdd died) so it is probably itching to update IE for me ....

I still get a fair few IE7 and IE6 readers, 40% IE, of which 6.3% are IE6 and 14.3% IE7. But, I can live with knowing that the 60% of IE8 people can currently see it OK!

Ah, that would explain it! IE7 is not that old is it? Blimey.

I have had my Google +1 code on my site for a few weeks but only just noticed that it is not appearing in IE. The code appears at the top of articles between the FB like and the "free advice" bit. You can see it in Chrome / FF but not (or I cannot) in Internet Explorer 7. Example page. Is this something I have to put up with, or is it fixable?
