  1. Hmm, the logo isn't cropped here..? What browser/resolution are you using? Some of the social networking buttons are hidden on smaller screen sizes, but you might be right that the overall look would benefit from removing some of them all together.. I'll look into whether I can put them somewhere else or if some of them are just unnecessary.
  2. That seems about right for 1024x768. It looks better at higher resolutions in a desktop browser though. That layout fits better for a tablet.
  3. That seems about right for 1024x768, It should be working fine in Opera as well though (it's the browser I use to do developent with ). Could you send me a screenshot of what you see in Opera?
  4. Thanks! The images are actually there on mobile as well, but they are hidden if you have a quite small screen. I've decreased the limit now so that mobile users with somewhat large screens will still be shown the images. Better?
  5. rallport: Thanks! =) andy9l: I've been annoyed by that too, but it might be easier said than done to fix... I'll look into it. Did you like the site apart from that?
  6. Hey guys and girls! So, I redesigned my portfolio a while back, but recently made some final tweaks, and was hoping that you might share your thoughts so I can make it better. I am not a designer, but I am quite happy with this design. That said, I'm not particularly tied to it, so if it turns out no-one else likes it, I might go rewrite it completely again I've optimized the site to make it load quickly, and it is (naturally) fully responsive. If you have the time, feedback on the site at various resolutions would also be very welcome! The site is at http://tsp.io, and the code is at https://github.com/jonhoo/thesquareplanet.com if you're interested (or Ctrl+U; it's HTML+CSS+JS only anyway). Looking forward to hear from all of you, Jon
  7. Hey Selbekk, ( yup, men bare tidvis ) The mangled e-mail address has been fixed now. The reason for the lack of a contact form is that the server I hosted my website on previously didn't support sending e-mail. I've just recently switched hosts, so I'll be making a working one soon =) I've increased the opacity of the sliders, does it feel better now? I'm not entirely sure how to indicate how the slider works while still keeping the design simple.. Any suggestions? The background is actually self-drawing (don't know if you noticed) to make it a bit less flat than single color. I've played around with simple gradients, but none of the ones I've come up with look very good (I'm a developer, not a designer ^^) As for the footer, I've removed the "Another The Square Planet website", as well as the buttons. If you don't know what public keys are, you should really read up on it, especially with regards to SSH. It is very convenient to have them available online..
  8. Hi guys! I've gone through and made a couple of changes to the design now: - The typography has been updated - The textured background has been changed to pure white - The effect for the list of references has been given a facelift - I've made some other minor detail changes (removed some borders, etc) What do you think of the altered design? Cheers, Jon
  9. How about replacing "Quote of the Day" with a feed of my latest tweets and blog posts, or something similar?
  10. What are you referring to when you say "it makes it look like there's an error showing your html tags on first viewing"? There should be no visible html tags, nor elements that are easily confused with them? I suppose I agree with the stoney background - it was done simply to make the page slightly less "flat". Not sure about removing the links though.. At least the one for Bond University should probably be left in? What do you think about the general styling of the links; more specifically when they are used in the texts describing the different pages I've made? From what the others have said as well, I realize this will probably have to be changed.. Maybe make it scroll sideways with arrows left and right instead of up/down? Quote of the Day was put in simply to give the page more of a personal feel. All the quotes are from my own compilation, not pulled from some generic site.
  11. Again, the field is already a slider (try clicking anywhere inside the box), but it also has a scrollbar for accessibility. Will probably style this slightly better though, as now it seems like the sliding effect is not apparent. I'll play a bit around with styles for the header - maybe something that fades in from the background?. Frost Tear, when you say "try a gradient", do you mean on the whole header, or just on the text? MarkJenner: I'll fix the boxes not being completely clickable - it was a bug, not a feature =P Thanks for all the feedback, all comments are very welcome =) Jon
  12. Any suggestions for the header font? Or other things to "spice" it up a bit? The section is actually not only scrollable, but slides when you click it (anywhere inside the box). I could probably make this more clear...
