  6. These are the steps I take in desiging a website: Ask the right questions Asking the client what they want can be half the battle. Find out what other websites inspire them and what they want to achieve from a website and what their target audience is. Create a mock up design in a graphics package I personally use Fireworks for most of my web designs but sometimes use photoshop for creating better looking images. Using a graphics package instead of using paper would mean the client gets a real idea of what the website is going to look like. The build Once the client and yourself have settled on a design proposal the next step is to code it up. I personally don't use slicing but instead take out the elements I want into a new canvas and save them in the website folders. I find this technique is a lot faster and less messy. Once I have all my images I layout my DIVS in the order they natually fall from looking at the design proposal e.g. Header Menu Maintext Footer This is obviously a brief summary but I still hope it helps you out.
