  1. Hello everybody, I am finishing a site, and I have a little css problem I can't solve: rubencantafio.com/wp On the search button (magnifying glass), the slide effect works like a charm, but in Opera (both PC and Mac) the position of the button is always wrong (it appears towards de left). What's happening? It's driving me crazy. Thanks, Eduardo
  2. Excellent observations. However, there is a variable I dindn't take into account: the client's opinion. Yesterday she told me she loved that "dynamic" little gadget! And, as it's written in JavaScript, it can be seeing on an iPad, for example. So, I won't torment myself anymore. Thanks again, Eduardo
  3. Well, thank you very much for your response. It was very instructive. I've changed the font colors and it looks much better now. I guess I was trying to keep the "cool and relaxed” overall feeling, so I sacrificed legibility over design (huge mistake. What do you think about the "cursos" page? http://www.ceiacc.com/cursos/ Don't you think it's a little bit too "dynamic"? I'm asking because I don't feel very comfortable with it. The whole site is very static and traditional and this page doesn’t seem to fit. Cheers, Eduardo
  4. Thanks! The centralized logo, it's the first time I use it. I wanted something symmetrical and balanced. But I agree with you, it's not always easy to manage.
  5. Hello Everybody, I created a new website for a small massage academy in Caracas, Venezuela. The client wanted a simple website with nice and soft colors in order to give the impression of a relaxed and cool atmosphere: www.ceiacc.com For this website, I created a Wordpress theme from scratch (sandbox theme) and added some plugins and javascript animations. I hope you like it. Feel free to critisize and comment...I'm all ears... Greetings, Eduardo
  6. Thanks Lev, Nice to hear from you again!
  7. Thanks for the review, I am not very familiar with Chrome, how do you detect those errors? Thanks, Eduardo
  8. Hello everybody, I haven't been here for a long long time. I'd like to submit a web site a recently finished. The client wanted a very dynamic horizontal scrolling site, so, I came up with this idea. Also, they were very picky with the design, textures, etc., a real challenge. www.c-slit.com I know there must be many design and code mistakes, but, well, at the end the client was happy, and that matters the most. I hope you like it. Any comments or critics are welcome. Cheers, Eduardo
  9. Thank you very much, You are right, I didn't think about it. By the way, excellent portfolio! Cheers, Eduardo
  10. Hello everybody, I'd like to have some feedback on my last work: www.pixelatelier.com Pixelatelier is a web and graphic design company located in Caracas, Venezuela. The layout is very simple and there is not too much content. I wanted a clean and fast website. All critics and suggestions are welcome. Best regards, Eduardo
  11. Hello, Thanks for your response. I will try that! Cheers
  12. Hello, I recently redesigned a blog: www.musicaenclave.com As you can see, the first page (Inicio) displays: | Musicaenclave at the upper part of the browser window. When I created that page, I omitted the title on the WordPress options, so it leaves a blank then the symbol | then the name of the site. Actually, the real index page is the Blog, but I didn't want it to be the home page. Now how do I get rid of that annoying vertical bar JUST for the home page? Thanks, Eduardo
  13. Hello again, Just to say that it worked perfectly. I just had to edit the pluggable.php file here: // From email and name // If we don't have a name from the input headers if ( !isset( $from_name ) ) { $from_name = 'WordPress'; } And here: if ( !isset( $from_email ) ) { // Get the site domain and get rid of www. $sitename = strtolower( $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] ); if ( substr( $sitename, 0, 4 ) == 'www.' ) { $sitename = substr( $sitename, 4 ); } $from_email = 'wordpress@' . $sitename; } No need to change the php.ini file Cheers, Eduardo
  14. Thank you very much, that is the idea. By the way, I have a question. As you can see, the footer is very short and has almost no info in there (just the copyright and a university logo). I was wondering, looking at your own portfolio, in which cases do you chose to add a very rich footer, with a navigation menu and many other options, and in which cases do you rather prefer to just design a footer with almost no content? Just wondering...
  15. Thank you very much for your response. I'll try as soon as possible! Cheers, Eduardo
  16. Hello everyone, I don't know if you review Wordpress sites in this forum, but anyway, I'll try my luck. http://www.musicaenclave.com is a venezuelan music journal (only in Spanish, I'm afraid) which main goal is to publish articles and research papers about music. I wanted this site to be as sober as possible (I hope it's not too boring) and easy to navigate. I chosed a WordPress platform for it allows me to add a subscription plugin, and, of course, a Blog. I hope you don't find it too hard to understand as it's in Spanish...I know it can be more flashy, but, I don't know, I like the monochromatic option. Maybe the links, titles and subtitles could be improved someway, so I'll need your advice in that subject. Also, sorry for all the /br and validation errors, but I find it really hard to validate a WordPress platform. Cheers, Eduardo
  17. Hello, I've noticed that all e-mail notifications from my blog: www.musicaenclave.com have been showing this address from the sender: musicaen@box541.bluehost.com (from my host) and not the correct one: contacto@musicaenclave.com How do I fix this? Thanks Eduardo
  18. I just found this video: The guy says there are 2 techniques to move the blog from a subdirectory to the root. The first one is moving the whole thing to the root and changing some lines on the DB files, the second one is moving just some files to the root, while keeping others in the /blog/ subdirectory. Which one do you recommend?
  19. Hello again, I have a new question. Right now I am adding content to the journal: new pages, articles, images, etc. Everything is being saved in the /blog/subdirectory: www.musicaenclave.com/blog/xxxxxx , for example: http://www.musicaenclave.com/blog/eduardo-lecuna/ Now, when the blog is ready I'll need to move all that to the root directory, because I want to get rid of the /blog/ part in the URL, I want the URL's to look like: http://www.musicaenclave.com/eduardo-lecuna/ I know there are some techiques to move a whole WP blog to a different directory on the same server while keeping the index and DB in the original place. But I'm afraid I will have to manually update all links once I do that. What would be your advice? What would be the best way to do it? Should I move the whole thing right now, or once the new blog is completed? Cheers, Eduardo
  20. I just want to add that I am impressed with your portfolio, it looks amazing! Chapeau!
  21. Thank you very much. That was easy, wasn't it? Now it looks much much better. I'll take your advice about the old/new url's. By the way, how do you like the new look? Old: www.musicaenclave.com New: www.musicaenclave.com/blog Cheers, Eduardo
  22. Hello everybody, I need to convert an old music journal, with a very lousy code and design into a brand new site. For that, I chose Wordpress for it's very flexible and powerful. However there are some issues I'd need to resolve and I don't know how: 1- The old site: www.musicaenclave.com is a music journal (Spanish) with articles published every 4 months. Several other sites and indexes have links to these articles and many people have included them in their own sites as a reference. It's very important for me to keep these same links. If I rebuild this site with Wordpress, would I be able to do it? 2- I've heard about the "pretty permalinks", but I don't really know how to convert the ugly ones into nice and logic ones. So far, I have this as the new design: www.musicaenclave.com/blog As you can see, the url's for every page end with ?page_id=xx which is meaningless. For example, I would like to convert the contact page's url (contacto): http://www.musicaenclave.com/blog/'>http://www.musicaenclave.com/blog/?page_id=92'>http://www.musicaenclave.com/blog/?page_id=92 into something like: http://www.musicaenclave.com/blog/contacto/ And of course, when the blog is ready I’ll change the directories http://www.musicaenclave.com/blog/ into http://www.musicaenclave.com Any ideas are welcomed Thanks, Eduardo
  23. Thanks Lev, I solved it myself adding this line at the end of the navigation code: <li class="page_item"><a href="http://www.kotebel.com" target="_blank">Kotebel's Website</a></li> It works perfectly Cheers, Eduardo
  24. Hello, In this blog: www.kotebelblog.com As you see, there are three nav items: home, articles, news. I'd like to add a fourth item to this list: Kotebel's Website, but I just want a single link to an external url: www.kotebel.com How do I do this? I tried creating a new page or a new category, but I don't know how to tell WP just to create an isolated link (with no content) on that menu, which links to an external url. Thanks, Eduardo
  25. Hello everybody, I just finished a web site of a famous Spanish/Venezuelan progressive rock band called Kotebel: www.kotebel.com I know it's full of validation errors, but I use too many widgets and <objects> which never validate. I am mostly concerned with functionality and design so, please, let me hear what you think. Critics are welcomed. Thanks a lot, Eduardo
