I am creating HTML and CSS for a template that will be eventually made into a custom Wordpress theme: http://www.lucky-magpies.co.uk/esm/ and would like to know the best way to make the photographic background stretch to the full width of the user's screen? I have added the image reference in the HTML (as <div style="background...") because the image is going to be different on each page of the site. (I am aware the image i'm using currently is too low in resolution but wanted to get the coding right first). Also, I would like to use fonts 'bebas' and 'aller' any advice on the best way to embed these so they work in Wordpress. Any help is very much appriciated.

I have recently created this website http://www.lucky-magpies.co.uk/chineseservices/index.php and when tested on a mobile, the main content wrapper seems to be the wrong width so the text & images appear to overlap. Does anyone know of a way to fix this please? I'm thinking it may be some custom css for devices, but have not done this before so any advice would be great! Thanks.

I am building a website from a template that came with a content slider as featured here: http://www.lucky-magpies.co.uk/chineseservices/index.php. I just wondered if there is a way to make it slide automatically (like a slideshow) as well from the user clicking the thumbnails. Hi there, I just wondered if anyone knows of any cool effects I can add to my site using Javascript or jQuery? I basically want an effect so when you hover any linked image, it fades or changes colour or something cool. I have had a look around on the net but can't seem to find anything. I don't really want to apply script to each individual image, I would like some script that I can pop onto the site and it automatically applies it too all linked images! First of all, sorry if this sounds like a silly question! My situation is that I have 2 web sites each with there own webspace / hosting package and domain. I have a couple other smaller sites (which SEO isn't too important) that I have just put up on the space of one of my sites and forwarded the url. I'm currently working on a new site which SEO is very important. I wondered if to achieve good optimization it would be best to buy a new hosting package with the domain directly linked to it, or if putting it up on my existing space and forwarding the domain would be reasonable? Any advice would be really appricaited!

I see where you have the made a space left of the search bar, I think this is a good place. Perhaps you could add buttons for each sub category here? Green ones on the 'Alien' page, and orange on the 'Leopard'. Or, you could always try adding dropdowns to the main menu. Just ideas!

I am currently involved in creating a website which will have a lot of pages, therefore I obviously want to use PHP includes for my menu (lots of text links) rather than having the menu as HTML because that way, every time I need to make a change I will have to update ALL of the pages :S I would like the site to be optimized for search engines as much as possible, I will be doing a lot of marketing and a high ranking is very important. So, I just wondered if having the menu as an include on 1 PHP file will be less advantageous in terms of SEO than the menu repeated in HTML on lots of pages? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for replying, I want the left div to be the same height as the main column div, so the div backgrounds match to prevent a gap under the left collumn when the main one is longer, this should be visible on the page I linked, or at least on some of the pages at http://www.lucky-magpies.co.uk/lifestyle

This should be easy for me, but on this particular web site I am making, just can't seem to get it right. Basically, I have a left menu column and a right main column which (on most pages) contains a large amount of text. How do I arrange my css so the left div area stretches when the right does? Thanks very much for that, I think there is an issue with the fact some of the text is on 2 lines though. When I put the line height the same as the block height like you mention, the second half of the text disappears. Anyway you think I can rectify this?

I have a really silly problem which is annoying and wondered if anyone could help. I am currently working on this web site: http://www.lucky-magpies.co.uk/lifestyle/ and as you can see, the text on the buttons on the left hand side don't look quite right. I want the text such as 'Home' to be centralized (between top and bottom) but I cannot find away to do this as it messes up the text which is on 2 lines such as 'Personal Training and Group Exercise' Anyone know of a way I can have a custom align for each of the buttons, rather than applying a style to all? Or perhaps a different way althogether, feel free to look a source code, or I can post it if needed. Many thanks, Sophie

I'm pretty new to SEO, but someone in marketing at work asked me to upload a page to our website which appears blank (white text on white background) but is full of keywords. I did this and made it so it re-directs to our web site. The page is index.html, as the index.php is picked up by our domain name. Please can you tell if doing this is actually beneficial? Or if there are any implications, such as loss of rankings if google / search engine finds out about this. Any advice at all would be really appricaited. (edit for grammar error)
