Ok, here goes I've been recoding this site to get around different issues with SEO and outdated standards. It's a general product site where there is a list in a <div> on one side of the page and another <DIV> next to it on which i've ID'd as "content" I then wanted to build each product on it's own little html page just to make it quick and easy - and intentionally faster as it's only changing the content on one area of the apge. I intiailly used the dreaded "<iframe>" and got no shortage of issues. so went looking about to externally load html into divs I then found innerHTML which of course works nice for the initial loading, but I cant figure out how to code it so when I click on the link on the left, it changed the content on the right. That's problem one. Problem 2 - As everyone knows (and I found out) Firefox does not support innerHTML - so now i'm back where I started. Suggestions? Perhaps you could give the url? That way it'd be easier to get an idea of what you mean. I've had a fair amount of luck with iframes so perhaps it's just a little issue

The bug you mentioned is Firefox specific - the menus work fine in IE Safari and Opera, I'm working to get the FF part fixed. While I value the fact that you have your own opinion on using frame, at this current time, the framesets are for the most part accomplishing what I want them to do changing a live content area without the page constantly reloading only the content part. And again while I appreciate you offering your opinion on what you think is right, I couldn't help but notice AT NO TIME did you make any indication as to whether you knew the actual answer to the question, you simply spouted off your opinion of how you think what I have done is no good and how you think you are so much superior. So without seeing anything other than your own subjective self-rightousness really, I take your reply to be the worthless **** it appears to be. If your reply were to perhaps more address what the actual question was then perhaps I would see it more as an attempt to help and less of an attempt to puff up your own ego at the expense of someone who legitamately asked for assistance.

Is there a reason why the links on the frame loaded into my iframe would not work or work intermittently? for an example www.toraenergy.com/welcome.html if you load in the product pages from the dropmenu it should show what the problem is

Just what I needed... thanks.... i'm sure as the site develops, i'll be changing the coding all again.... this is only the third re-write... eventually i'll get to a stable platform (coffin).... Cheers

I've built a site using iframes and a dropdown menu. the drop menu was generated by quickmenu which generated a javascript file for me. I then modified the menu controls to control multiple iframes... now the error console in Firefox comes up each time. i have a suspicion that the javascripting required to control the multiple frames is causing an error, but am not too sure what i am looking at as far as whay the error console would be popping up (ironically it works in IE). see: www.jestley.com/dev Please help

While i appreciate the feedback, i understand the change in conventions there, but is it possible to make the scrollbar shorter than the frame height and still have it control the frame?

I've built a site which integrates an iframe. noe the problem is the visual area for the iframe is specialized with the background design and would like the scrollbar to be shorter than the entire frame but can still scroll the whole frame... is there any way to set the height of the scrollbar? to visualize my dilemma i've posted a picture at www.jestley.com/downloads/iframe.jpg

Hi all How do I say it.. my area of expertise is more in print design... but today being the market it is, everyone wants a website first... so, here comes the crash course..... and learning on the fly.... having resources to help me get my way through this tangled web is awesome... please be gentle, i'm sure there's going to be no shortage of stupid questions coming from me so far, my only website is my own, but of course, I got slammed... have 3+ more filtering through the hopper as the only business i have coming in (rather than my initial plan of subbing the biz out to a friend) so i foresee a lot of sleepless nights here catching up... comments and critiques are always appreciated (just remember, i am flying by the seat of my pants getting this together) www.jestley.com cheers Chase
