Is there a reason why the links on the frame loaded into my iframe would not work or work intermittently?

for an example www.toraenergy.com/welcome.html if you load in the product pages from the dropmenu it should show what the problem is

I only managed to click on the top item in the drop down menu for Products once. After that it just kept disappearing whenever I moved the cursor from the Product link to the drop down menu. Frustrating bug. (I'm using Firefox.)

 

I noticed that when you click on Products itself, instead of the dropdown menu that appears, a new window opens up with a 404 message.

 

I had a look at the source code and to be honest it's a complete mess. The navigational links uses javascript to load the pages into two iframes. This means that you break usability big time. Anyone without javascript enabled won't be able to use the site. (Rememer that some people require screen reader and other tools to be able to access the internet.) Also, search engines won't be able to crawl your site properly because there aren't links for it to index.

 

In addition, the markup is flooded with non-standard markup. Especially the navigation system.

 

I'd strongly recommend that you drop that javascript and use proper links and proper markup instead. Also drop your frames. Frames is in 99.9% of the cases a bad thing. (You can do a quick Google on html and frames if you want get more info on why it's bad. There's loads of articles availible.)

 

In addition I'd recommend you look up http://www.htmldog.com/ which is a good reference to HTML and CSS while encouraging good practices and semantics.

 

If you do that, clean up your coding, you'll have a site that'll work better across browsers and media, and greatly improving the user experience.

The bug you mentioned is Firefox specific - the menus work fine in IE Safari and Opera, I'm working to get the FF part fixed.

 

While I value the fact that you have your own opinion on using frame, at this current time, the framesets are for the most part accomplishing what I want them to do changing a live content area without the page constantly reloading only the content part.

 

And again while I appreciate you offering your opinion on what you think is right, I couldn't help but notice AT NO TIME did you make any indication as to whether you knew the actual answer to the question, you simply spouted off your opinion of how you think what I have done is no good and how you think you are so much superior. So without seeing anything other than your own subjective self-rightousness really, I take your reply to be the worthless **** it appears to be. If your reply were to perhaps more address what the actual question was then perhaps I would see it more as an attempt to help and less of an attempt to puff up your own ego at the expense of someone who legitamately asked for assistance.
