  1. I've been working almost exclusively in Wordpress lately and I'm not sure how to migrate a non-Wordpress site. Would ftp access be the best way to move ospreypointtn.com, or do I need to check with the developer to see if there's any databases associated with it? Thank you for any feedback.
  2. Thank you. I contacted the host tech support, the refreshed the server cache and it started loading correctly. I'll look into your suggestion as well though, thank you.
  3. The site is www.redmonwrecker.com , if you type that url in the browser, the site will load. However, if you google redmon wrecker, www.redmonwrecker. com is the first choice in the search results, but if you click that result, the site won't load. I"m not sure why this is, the url is the same in both the google search and typing it in the browser bar. Looking at whynopadlock.com it says the ssl cert is not installed correctly, though its odd that the site will load with ssl on some browsers but not all. Any suggestions are appreciated.
  4. Thanks again for the reply. Any attempt to duplicate or export the entire site shows a disc space error. Hopefully between exporting in sections and scanning the directory, all is covered. I appreciate the feedback.
  5. Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately the current host hasn't been responsive, and I get a disc space error when I try to export the whole site. So, I've exported it in sections. I thought what you said would be the case, that you can't scan a root directory. Then I saw this service, and am curious if anyone has opinions on it: https://pentest-tools.com/website-vulnerability-scanning/discover-hidden-directories-and-files# Thanks again for the feedback.
  6. I'm working for a company, whose webhost/developer has gone awol. They still have control of the domain, so we are moving the hosting. We can log in to the wordpress site, but can't log in to the hosting. What is the best way to scan the .com to make sure I don't miss any files when I move the site over? Ideally without doing a lot of coding/programming. Thank you for any suggestions.
  7. Thank you two for bringing me back to earth...I actually have about 8 sites I could do this with. At the most, I may try it with one and see how it goes...but I probably won't even do that.
  8. Every year, it seems like I have 3-4 projects that stall in the discussion phase. Sometimes it may be a money issue, sometimes though I think I don't "lead" the client enough, or maybe I give them too many options. This year, I thought about doing a few "spec" sites. I know spec work is generally frowned upon in our business, though the way I'm going to do it may be worth it to me. December is always my slowest month, by far. I was going to contact those clients and tell them I would like to do a spec site based on our discussions, and see if they'd like to see it. It wouldn't be a complete site, just a home page, so I would only invest a few hours of work. And since it's my slowest month, I could charge less since some work is better than none. I've already done this once and it went well, though I'd like to get others thoughts. Has anyone tried this? Any thoughts good or bad on this idea? Thank you for any feedback.
  9. True, though he doesn't know anything about social networking, so he wouldnt know how to do it himself. It seems thought that a non customized myspace page would take about the same amount of time as a facebook page?
  10. I have a client who would like a facebook page for their business. Not including updates or maintenance, how much is a fair price for an info page, with photos added to the photos section? Thank you for any suggestions!

Hi all. A recent site I've done is www.red-rhino-realty.com. The client likes Century Gothic, which is supposed to be a "safe" font. However, it appears jaggy on the home page buttons. One website suggested to check my "font declarations." I'm not sure what that means. I thought, if your computer has a font that a website requires, it would display it, and if it didn't, then it wouldnt display it. I thought it was an all or nothing kind of thing, and if a font displays jaggy, then thats just the way it is, theres nothing programmatically one can do about it. So I guess I have two questions...does the font look rough to you, especially in the top menu area, and if so, is there anything I can do about it? Thank you for any suggestions.
