Cheers for the encouragement. I do take as many short cuts as possibly (customising templates / using a theme building software and using out of the box plugins by other people so I have a lot to learn about the intricacies of Web Design. I figure if the people want sites made from the ground up I advice them to go elsewhere, I fully disclose my methods and charge modestly. I did an interview for a web design course recently with a big focus on the business side of freelancing and internet marketing. Hopefully this will help me improve and learn. I figure I can use lynda.com to brush up on the tech side. Andy

Thanks for the tips. I have made the header smaller. Narrow the right column and also narrowed the overall width of the page. I see what your saying about being creative in the header unfortunately my graphic design skills are novice at the moment. I quite like the color scheme myself except possibly for the header maybe is too bright. I was unaware bullet points were not a good idea. Why so? and is there an alternative? Andy

Hi I fairly to to web design and I only have a few site under my belt but the people i did them for seem very happy so I through of a portfolio site advertising for services under a temporary domain name for now. Hi Epicwebs Thanks for the response. I think sitting down with them and manually going through the process of purchasing the hosting with them would be best. I had another thought, As I will be creating the websites in Wordpess. I was going the do the site development live on the internet. I was thinking maybe of buying hosting in my own name. Developing the website on this account. And when the client is happy with the site and has paid up change the ownership and billing information of the hosting from my details to theirs so that they would then own the hosting account. The reason i was thinking of this is because maybe it would be easier than transferring the wordpress site to a new hosting account under the clients name. What would be your opinion of this idea. Hi I recently started doing paid websites for people. I very new to the whole thing and it just began by doing a site for a friend but through word of mouth ive gotten a few more to do. Im wondering whats the design management process usually used. I am developing sites in wordpress so I was thinking of developing the website in my own hosting account under a test domain name (eg. create a sub domain of my personal porfolio domain) And when the client is happy with the site and has paid, I would transfer the site to their hosting account under there desired domain name. Im wondering is this good practice? Also how do people usually manage hosting and domain name registration as customers generally want the web designer set it up. How do you set up the hosting and domain in their name without having accesss to their credit card details. Also one final question. Do you guys normally manage the hosting and domain name administration after the site is set up or do you hand it everthing over to your clients. Sorry for the length of the post, any advice appreciated. Andy
