  1. Hi thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I don't know how to use server side stuff like php or MySQL. I probably should. If it's simple enough a step by step idiots guide would help - if you just said 'go learn it!' I'd understand
  2. Hi all I just found this community and it looks very useful! I'm a bit of a media all rounder (let's call it 'marketing communications') I do just about everything, sound, photography, video, writing and have done lots of design for print. I've been doing web design stuff (sites/banners etc) for a few years but my skills are relatively basic html/flash. I guess being a jack of all trades I don't have the time to get into anything too advanced. So far my clients have been happy with my web stuff but I'm doing more of it all the time and need to keep up if possible, So... I am here to hoover your brains! I could really do with some expert input from time to time.
  3. Hi, I'm in Leeds too. In fact...I'm gonna PM you
  4. Hi. I've been asked to put a massive table in a website I run. When I say massive I mean 13,000 rows (and 3 columns) It's currently in an excel document, just attempting to import it takes about 10 minutes. Doing anything with it in Dreamweaver causes long freezes, it's clear that it wasn't designed to handle such a lot of info. Does anyone have any tips on how to handle such a beast? The resulting html page will be about 2mb which of course will make it slow to load, I'm wondering if there are any other implications. I have a feeling my client wants this because he thinks it will help his search rankings. Does Google like or dislike huge pages? Any other advice on this subject most welcome. Convincing arguments I can put to my client to persuade them it's a stupid idea would be just as good as technical help! .
  5. Hi, I've been asked to put a text search feature into a page, which I haven't done before and don't know how to do. The page will contain a list of products and what I need is a basic text search box, if someone types in a product name, the page should go to the spot where it's listed, or the text should highlight, or similar (so long as they can find it). I thought maybe I could do it with some simple javascript code, so I went looking, and found some, but it didn't work. Any advice? When answering please bear in mind I'm hung over. And stupid. I am a fairly basic html dreamweaver point and click type person who doesn't understand server side stuff or database stuff, unless it is extremely simple. Thanks!
