  1. I recently purchased a domain called downholecamera.net and pointed it to an existing page on our web site using a 301 redirect. By searching the keywords "downhole camera" our downholecamera.net page was showing up 7th on google. Now today it seems to have completely dissapeared. The page downholecamera.net points at is My link and im begining to think that google may have removed the downholecamera.net listing because of some kind of duplication issue. Having said that i have read that using a 301 redirect was the correct way to avoid a duplication penalty. Is there any way i can resolve this and get downholecamera.net reinstated. If it is a duplication issue should i create a a similar downhole camera page, make some minor changes such as page title etc and point the 301 at it instead James
  2. It seems to be working fine now , submitted without a problem this morning. Thanks for taking the time to reply Darren. J
  3. I maybe just need to bite the bullet and get some basic web hosting space for the domain and put some content on it. Thanks anyway
  4. Slight problem, Whenever i try and add http://www.downholecamera.net/ to google it says it does not exist. Eeek, totally stumped
  5. Hi Darren, Thanks for your help..... I have a web site called www.omega-completion.com which has a page on it under the intervention drop down menu called "downhole memory camera". I purchased a domain called www.downholecamera.net and set up a 301 re-direct to the camera page on our main site (mentioned above). What i cant work out is whether or not google will find www.downholecamera.net or do i have to submit it to google. Maybe i just need to put a link to www.downholecamera.net on my site. Should i modify the drop down menu link to the camera page to point to www.downholecamera.net Thanks again for your help, its greatly appreciated. James
  6. Hi, I have recently set up a 301 permanent redirect on a parked domain i have to point to a page on our web site (dont be fooled it sounds from the above sentance that i know what im doing but i dont)and my question is how does google know that this domainn exists. Is google sent some kind of notification that this domain is now in circulation and has an active web page attached to it. Cheers James
  7. Sorry, im not with you at all, Thanks for the help though
  8. Hi There, I recently purchased a load of domain names that are relevant to various items within our product range. For example one of our products is a downhole camera so i bought downholecamera.net. Given that i have a downhole camera page on our site My link what is the best way to associate this domain with this page. One way i thought of doing it was to buy web space for downholecamera.net and stick some images and info about the camera on the index page with a link to the doenhole camera page on our main site. Obviously this would incurr the need for monthly web space hosting costs, if anybody has any alternative ideas it would be appreciated. The support people at my domain company said the following: "The way you want to do this is the best way, park the domain, then re-direct through the DNS to the relevant website." But i am unsure whether i need to buy web space which would incurr significant extra costs. Thanks for help in advance James
