October 22, 200916 yr Hi There, I recently purchased a load of domain names that are relevant to various items within our product range. For example one of our products is a downhole camera so i bought downholecamera.net. Given that i have a downhole camera page on our site My link what is the best way to associate this domain with this page. One way i thought of doing it was to buy web space for downholecamera.net and stick some images and info about the camera on the index page with a link to the doenhole camera page on our main site. Obviously this would incurr the need for monthly web space hosting costs, if anybody has any alternative ideas it would be appreciated. The support people at my domain company said the following: "The way you want to do this is the best way, park the domain, then re-direct through the DNS to the relevant website." But i am unsure whether i need to buy web space which would incurr significant extra costs. Thanks for help in advance James
October 22, 200916 yr Depends who your host is, Some hosts offer unlimited domains which means you can host your domain on there and then when someone types in your domain, downholecamera.net the page the user will see is actually a different page on your site, if that makes any sense.
October 22, 200916 yr It doesnt really make sense when i read it back. But say you own site A and you buy a url, call it urlB. You can make a page display from site A when somebody types in urlB.

October 22, 200916 yr Short answer, depends on who is hosting your website. some packages only allow hosting for 1 domain. Best asking the people you are hosting with. You can usually upgrade your hosting package to allow multiple domain name management
October 23, 200916 yr But say you own site A and you buy a url, call it urlB. You can make a page display from site A when somebody types in urlB. You can use a parked domain. Then when someone types the address of the parked domain in the browser window it opens the main domain. When you get a hosting service it may only allow one main domain but several parked domains which do not have any files of their own, they are just redirected to the main domain. The hosting service may also allow you a sub-domain which is where the domain name has its own separate files and folders. It might be www.your-second-domain.com but as a subdomain the hosting service actually hosts it as www.directory-name.your-domain.com in other words a selected sub-directory (directory-name) of your main domain www.your-domain.com is allocated to the other domain name www.your-second-domain.com.
