  1. Have to echo these sentiments. I'm a CS4 Web Premium user and I use Dreamweaver but only write in code view. First priority is learn to code. HTML kit, Notepad++ will do the job. By all means use Dreamweaver to speed up writing code, it's auto fill and css building features are great but you write the code don't use design view and let it write bloated code for you.
  2. Try This www.zoneix.net
  3. No, it's just a tool to create your web page but you will need to delve into some coding so switch from design to code view:-). CSS is definitely the better way to go for roll over effects. www.zoneix.net
  4. I think you are confusing the content of the <title> tag and the displayed page masthead which you may think of as the title of the displayed page. The content within <title> should be different for each page and reflect the content of that page. This is important for SEO. You want the masthead to be the same on every page so that you have a consistent identity, that will be "Your Company Name". As has been suggested use an image replacement technique. I use: <h1><img src="./images/my-company_logo.png" height="148" width="300" alt="My company Name"/><span id="moveit">My Company Name</span></h1> and css rule: #moveit { position: absolute; left: -3000px; } Thisplaces the text off the screen and just the company logo is displayed. In SEO terms search engine crawlers index the text within the <h1> (content of the h1 tag is important), in accessibility terms a text only or screen reader will see just the text within the <h1><span> and I believe is semantically correctly as it gives the identity of the site containing that page, even if it is repeated for every page visited. You can see this effect on our website www.zoneix.net
  5. We use CS4Web Premium package, the nice integration between Photoshop, Fireworks and Dreamweaver make prototyping and image manipulation very easy. We both use Dreamweaver in its coding rather than design configuration which gives a nice code editing environment. So essentially we use Dreamweaver for hand coding, it's not an either or choice. It is an expensive option compared to using HTML-kit or Notepad++ which are both perfectly good editors. Personally I prefer Dreamweaver. www.zoneix.net
  6. Wow, some major problems and very difficult to read mark up! As a start using the Firefox Browser use this add in HTML Validator Yo can then use the Tidy program from within Firefox to clean it up. It probably won't fix everything and may break some bits but it will get rid of the basic errors and you can work from there. As a basic principle it is much better to separate mark up, CSS and JavaScript. Make sure your mark up is semantic it is then much easier to debug (and makes it easier for others to read if you need help as well ). it is also a good idea to check the validation of your page as you build it. Validating small sections is easier than trying to deal with one large page where one eror can cascade into multiple other problems. www.zoneix.net
  7. And This from the same publishers gives a good grounding in XHTML and CSS www.zoneix.net
  8. That was a good start, a typo in my topic title! It should of course be Hello from Zoneix
  9. Hi to everyone, we are a new web design company, with a few projects under our belt so far. Always on the lookout for new ideas and hopefully can also offer some help to others. Particular interests are standards based design and semantic mark up, CSS and accessible design. We also have some expertise in ColdFusion so will be looking to contribute and pick up any ideas there as well. You can see our work so far at Zoneix
