Maybe if you delete your browser-history and cookies etc? ... Do that, and try again.

I'd rather skip Dreamweaver and start with Notepad++ instead. The reason for this is that programs like Dreamweaver have a small tendency to auto-make unnessesary code etc, and you don't learn it proper by letting the program "help you" or code for you. I've also found out recently, that the videos at CSS-tricks are amazing and easy to follow and understand, especially the ones wich shows you how to make a PSD file into a fully-functional (x)HTML page with nice CSS markup'ing and everything. I'm a beginner too btw. We're kind'of in the same boat x)

You should stick with using DIV's. It's the easiest and the best way to build your website, and it's easy to change things in the future with it. Good luck!

What about HTML Dog's book? I just bought it, and I've read 20 pages or so...

I know some basic HTML, and I'm starting to learn CSS more and more... I've just recently bought one of SitePoint's books (BYOWSTRWUHAC: Build Your Own Web Site The Right Way Using HTML and CSS) and I'm going to read through it and do the examples etc. But, some days ago I found an article at webmonkey.com, dated july 2009, where it said that HTML5 have arrived. What I'm wondering on, if I should start learning HTML5 instead of HTML4 sort-of? ... I'm fresh with all this HTML and CSS anyways, that's why I'm wondering. Or should I just do HTML4 (doesn't really matter?) for a long period until I've become more secure with HTML and CSS and web-page-coding/designing etc, and then go over to HTML5 (if that's not easy?)... Thanks to all of you guys who reply' to this msg.

What about the Sitepoint's "Build Your Own Website The Right Way Using HTML & CSS" ? Anyone have any experience with that one?

I want to learn (x)HTML and CSS the "right way", and therefore I'm looking for a good book to buy. Which book do you people recommend? Also come with internet sites where you can learn it, but most important come with book suggestions (good ones). Thank you.

Hello everybody! I am new here, so don't shoot me if I say anything wrong, dumb or stupid I've been seeing alot of cool web designs on the internet (portfolios?), and I've learned that they're made in Photoshop. I have Photoshop, and everyone can make a portfolio (wether if it's as pro as the pro's make, that's another chapter in the book). What I want to learn, is how you make that portfolio operationable, like so you actually can press the "Home" navigation button on the portfolio, and it turns a little lighter when you're hovering it with the mouse and so on. Also how you can type text in the desidated areas within the portfolio, and how to position (?) and edit... Are there some tutorials out there learning how to do that? I am really interested in web design, HTML and etc, and I want to learn it properly. Anyways, I appreciate all replies! Best regards, Frillo
