browser window problems
try a new window size of 525px x 525px and keep adjusting it by one pixel until it works in IE. Failing that, look at a smarter solution of displaying the images...

My website is
There is a good visual balance to the site that makes good use of columns as layouts. A couple of things though... 1. Waiting for the portfolio section to lead was a little annoying 2. Use your own domain as a contact email not gmail.com 3. Google ads may detract a potential clients attention from your own content

time to phase out IE6 by now surely?
Home users will phase away from IE6 completely over the coming year however corporations will be very slow on the uptake as it is not their main priority. So as great as an ideal it may be, I won't be abandoning IE6 development for the coming future.

Point taken. One of my to do's is to make better use of the index page and space for signposts/instructions.

Use PHP To Check For Duplicates?
In that case I would output each line/date to an array, then loop through the array for each stored date to find duplicates using the in_array() function. EDIT: Or you could even use the array_search() function...

Layout gets messed up if the browser is too small
If you are going down that route I would make a cut down site specifically for mobile content and redirect the user based on the user agent value. Using one site to cater for all is messy work.

MySql wont work in XAMPP
Going back to XAMPP, reinstall it to ensure all the default files and settings are back to the original. Then open up a command prompt and type cd c:\xampp\mysql\bin and set the default password like this mysqladmin -u root password [newpassword] [newpassword] should be your selected new password. Once that is set, download the gui tools from mysql.com and once installed, login to the mysql server using Server Host: localhost Port: 3306 Username: root Password: [newpassword] Default Schema: \ Really straightforward stuff.

Layout gets messed up if the browser is too small
As Mr P said, floats will sort that out however I would really worry about it, after all who is going to resize the window that small?

My latest site
Hi Everyone, I usually read this forum without posting but I have recently finished a project and decided it would be good to post it to you all to get feedback on it plus take more of an active role on the site . The site is www.emuzo.co.uk. The sites ethos is to provide a truely original and new way to find musicians - all for free! I did this by using the google maps api to plot the adverts on a map so people can use radius searchs to find adverts. On a visual design level, I wanted to keep it a simple as possible as to not confuse the user. The back end uses 2 MySQL databases. One for the post code geodata and the other for the sites adverts, messages and account info etc. It's taken the best part of 6 months to put together as I changed my mind on the layout 4 times! It is now 95% there, with the odd thing I am going to tweak over the coming weeks. Please, be my guest to take a look - your critique is very welcome. www.emuzo.co.uk Thanks Kevin
