Problems with elements position in IE
Hi, First of all, thanks for all the help you have given me in other occasions. I´m trying to build a basic site using html and css and (as always) it looks ok in SAFARI, FIREFOX and CHROME, but terrible in IE. This browser is driving me mad. Everytime I have built a site I have had problems with it, and I really wish they ditched that browser for good. Well, could somebody please tell me why some of the elements in the site look out of place in IE? http://www.pedaldoc.com/html/mainpages_english/master.html Many thanks in advance, Iván

display problems in ie6
The site I am doing also looks terrible in IE6. But well, there are less and less people using it so should I bother?

What do you guys think of IE8?
Well, I was hoping IE will dissapear from the market but the new version is really a step ahead from what they used to do. As somebody has already say most sites look the same now in Firefox and IE, which is great. I haven´t built many websites, but I still remember getting really afraid of trying what I was designing for Firefox in IE. Now that is behind.

Wrong looking webpage...why?
Hi everybody! First of all thanks a lot for all the help you have given me in other occasions. Could you please give me a hand with this too? I am building the following website: www.primaryteachingresources.net which basically is a website of totally free resources for primary school teachers. My problem: In IE7 all the pages look ok but the home page, in which the menu looks much smaller and really weird. Also, when I go to 5º-6º E.P.O page (in the menu) the button for that page is highlighted but also the button for the 1-2º E.P.O page. Why does this happen? Well, if you have any other suggestions to make the site look and work better I will very gradly hear them. Thanks a lot, Iván

How is this done? Sound in index page
Hi, First of all thanks a lot to everyone of you for the help you have given me other times. Could you please give a hand with this too? I would like to add sound to the index page of my website. Something like in this website: http://www.mundopeque.com/ Is that very difficult to do? Could you explain me how to do it or point me to some place where it is explained? Thanks a lot in advance, Ivánmax

Does this site look fine in IE7, IE8 and SAFARI?
That is great. Many thanks. Well, I contained those four layers inside another layer. I guess I will have to do them independent from one another and give them a height of 1000 px each. Please check that tool. It is great to see your site in different browsers: http://browsershots.org/ Hope you like it, Regards, Iván

Does this site look fine in IE7, IE8 and SAFARI?
Hi, First of all thanks for all the help you are giving me. Please do help me a bit more: Apparently my website doesn´t look right in IE7, IE8 or SAFARI. I can´t install IE7 or IE8 in my computer. In SAFARI the page has a huge black gap at the botton (don´t know why) I have corrected all the CSS and HTML errors (there were 41css ones and 3html ones before). Now the page has no errors at all according to the validators. Could somebody how has IE7 or IE8 look in their computers? This is driving me mad. Aren´t these new browsers supposed to support at least the same as the previous ones? You got a link there: http://www.primaryteachingresources.net/te...es/html/xx.html Also, could somebody tell me why there is a huge black gap at the botton of the page? Well, getting nearer I suppose. I will keep on trying for a few days. If I can´t make this work properly I will go for a fixed design. Thanks to all of you. Iván

Does this look right in your screen?
Hi everybody and first of all thanks for all the help you have given me other times. I am designing a website for spanish bilingual primary school teachers. I had made a liquid layout and then decided to make it fixed because the liquid one was giving me lots of problems. Finally I have come back to the liquid one again and I think it works fine. http://www.primaryteachingresources.net/te...ml/trying4.html I have tried it in about 6 different monitors (3 I got at home and three more at my university). It works perfectly fine in all of them except in one of the old monitors at university, where the upper stripe (the one that contains the "primary teaching..." text and the image) looks much bigger than the 130 px I gave it. Could you please tell me if the site looks ok in your screen? I have designed for 1024x768 and to be honest haven´t care about those who use a 800x600 resolution, as I don´t think there are anybody still using that resolution in my country. I would really appreciate it if you let me know how the site looks in your screen. Thanks in advance. Iván

Ideal resolution for fixed design
Hi everybody, As always, first of all thanks a lot for all your help  Well, a question that everyone of you must have ask him or herself a million times. After trying to make a liquid site I have found that it just give me trouble. It works fine in most screens but it looks horrible in a few others. Therefore I have decided to go for a fixed size. Which one should I choose? Is 1280 for 768 the best one? Please help me with this. I am falling badly behind my schedule...and if I don´t get the site done by june I will fail one of my university subjects (and will look like a moron by the way). Thanks a lot, Iván

Why don´t buttons show themselves as "visited"?
Hi everybody, First of all thanks a lot for all the times you have helped me. Let´s see if I can explain this and you can give me a hand once more. I am buiding this site: http://www.primaryteachingresources.net/te...siteprueba.html When I click on the home button it takes me to another page...but the home button doesn´t show itself as "visited" (I got a color predetermined for this). Why on earth this happens? I suppose it is something really stupid, but it is beyong my very little knowledge. Thanks a lot in advance. Ivanmax.

Please give me a hand with this...

Please give me a hand with this...
Hi, I am building a website with resources for primary school teachers. I have built the design for the main pages of the site and everything looked fine in my computer screen. Here is a link: http://www.primaryteachingresources.net/te...l/website9.html However when I tried the main page at different screens resolutions the right lower part of the page started to become smaller and smaller. Here is the page at 1440 X 900 (everything looks fine here): http://www.flickr.com/photos/22338638@N06/3421175089/ Here it is at 1280 X 768 (still everything looks fine): http://www.flickr.com/photos/22338638@N06/3421981992/ Here it is at 1024 X 768 (you can see the right lower part of the page starts to get smaller): http://www.flickr.com/photos/22338638@N06/3421176179/ And here it is at 600 X 800 (total disaster...the right lower part gets smaller and smaller...also the letters get ones on top of another) http://www.flickr.com/photos/22338638@N06/3421982902/ Why does this happen? I have spent the whole day trying to find out before writing here. Please give a hand. Thanks a lot in advance, Ivánmax

Please help...I can find a way of vertically center an image with CSS
Hi, Thanks, but the text and the image are in different layers. Isn´t there a way to center the image vertically in its own layer? Thanks again, Ivánmax

Please help...I can find a way of vertically center an image with CSS
Hi everybody, I am really sorry to waste your time with this but I am completely stuck. I think I have read about 20 different comments about how to vertically center an image using CSS but I CAN´T DO IT! Well, please have a look to the next webpage: http://pedaldoc.com/html/website2.html Ignore the colors as I am just trying to do the layout right first. The thing is that in that page you will be able to see a white box in the upper top left corner which contains text saying "The human body" and an image of a "human body". The text is nicely centered, but I can´t find a way of vertically centering the image which always sticks to the top of the white box. I have tried everything I have found in the net to no avail. Would any of you be so kind as to give a hand with this? I am about to go blind after hours trying to find a way of doing it... Thanks a lot in advance. Ivánmax

Can somebody give me a hand with this?
Hi everybody! Well, I am new in this forum so first of all hello to everyone of you. Let´s see if somebody can give me a hand with this. I believe it is a very simple question but I am just starting, so please don´t laugh. I am trying to make a website of teaching resources for primary school teachers. I have made the basic layout using CSS but I have reached a problem I don´t know how to solve. You can see the first page I have made there: http://pedaldoc.com/html/website2.html Well, on the left upper side you can see text saying "The human body" and a picture of a human body. The thing is that I want to make a link so when you click on the picture or the text you are taken to a powerpoint presentation I will upload to my server. The thing is that I DON´T KNOW HOW TO MAKE THE LINK! Everytime I make it using the standard way of linking in html (<a href="http://pedaldoc.com/html/humanbody.ppt ">THE HUMAN BODY</a>) the link gets into the menu. You got an example there: http://pedaldoc.com/html/website3.html What I am doing wrong? Please, I will really appreciate your help. Thanks a lot, Iván
