Hello,

 

I've just recently discovered that my passion is design, not programming, and decided to become more serious about web design. I haven't done much yet[1], but thought I should at least have my own little website for my blog and (hopefully soon to be) portfolio. It's not quite done yet, fairly empty, and the blog part is mostly broken, but please let me know what you think about the design itself, thanks!

[1] I'd love to create some free designs for my portfolio, but I can't seem to find any motivation/inspiration for doing random templates. So if anyone would like me to try for their website, I'd be happy to (no guarantees of course). I have been working on some things, but they are a bit more complex and not presentable quite yet.

Me wonders, if the lack of feedback is a good or a bad thing.

 

If nobody wants to comment, maybe somebody has an idea why the validator claims that the site is going out as text/html? Firefox correctly reports application/xhtml+xml. There is a content negotiation plugin, but I'm pretty sure that it was working correctly before.

I'd say it's because you are german , Just kidding.

 

You site looks very clean and it's hard to give comment on it because you did everything by the book. Wich also makes you site look a bit generic. Try adding some personal features. Something that will set it apart from all the other blogs that are out there. Another problem is content. You main page is basicly just a referral page. Try putting some relevant information on your homepage.

Ya i agree. I really like the green you use too. It's a great looking site. Once you start to get more content it will be a lot nicer looking. It's got that empty feel to it right now.

 

couple things:

in IE6 your page is not centered.

in FF2 the spacing on the top has a white background instead of the grey

Thanks for the comments! I agree that it looks a bit "lifeless". I will certainly try to do something more personal, more unique, in the future. For now I just wanted to have something solid, that looks well made (and didn't took too much time to create). So if you think it looks fine, I'm happy.

 

Not sure about IE 6, there is more than one problem and to be honest I'm happy that it works at all. ^^ I'll have to look into a parallel installation of IE 6 perhaps, how do most of you deal with this? I'm tempted to just ignore it and rely on the standards to be honest...

 

The empty space in FF 2 seems strange indeed, thanks for the notice. I will try to find out what is causing it, but I hope it's not a bug in the browser.

Ok I installed IE 6 and the biggest problems should be fixed. Also changed the padding, so the white parts in Firefox disappeared (still no idea why it was doing this though).
