p.s. much of the content is still incomplete, i'm concentrating on design for now...

I'm a fan of the background, but I think this site is maybe a bit too wide. That may just be because your still adding content but that's just my views.

To tell the whole truth you have so many different styles going on with this site that it is hard to know where to begin with a crit

 

Are you designing this on a high resolution as on a normal resolution everything is so big. All your graphics are huge and everything is so spaced out, for the little content that you are displaying I feel like the design hasn't been considered and I ask myself why am I scrolling...so design wise I think the layout needs to be revised.

 

Also don't display the valid buttons when your site doesn't validate...even if you are working on it you should never display that your site is valid unless it is.

 

Your main navigation and logo don't seem considered at all and don't fit the rounded corner style you have for the main content.

 

The newspaper at the bottom confuesd me and I didn't realise until after I had clicked on it that it was an RSS feed.

 

 

If you are an advanced web developer the one thing you should know to do is test your site for browser compatibility, so I would suggest fixing the mess that IE6 causes.

 

 

All in all there are some ok bits to it (but these are masked behind the fact that the layout is bad, and there is a mash of styles), my crit is probably bias given that you haven't finished it.
