first up congrats on the baby

 

re. the site - there is an issue with the mouseover on the main page for the second row of projects

 

also - the mouseover bubble - its cool but a little far from the original project

 

I personally am not all that keen on the color schemes - but i guess thas your bronze coming out

I do like the brightness of them myself but am open to ideas.

Perhaps you could have the bright colours on top and then maybe have a neutral colour scheme underneath.

 

Lighter more soothing shades.

 

Still think it is a great simplistic design though.

Any more please would be appreciated.

My first impressions were good. I liked the mouseovers on the projects at the bottom of the homepage, worked well and quite unique, haven't seen that on many sites I visited. Great projects too may I add.

 

My personal preference would be that on every page the grey box containing the content was the same height as long as the content isn't bigger. I think for the pages such as 'About' and 'Work/Projects' could benefit from being the same height as the homepage. Obviously you would have to insert something into that space. For example on the About page, you could add a graphic below the header 'Who am I? What do I do?'. The same for the Projects page, possibly a description saying what you use, for example, "All created using valid XHTML and CSS etc etc" .

 

I hope that makes sense.

I really like this site, it's unique and although simple has enough on it to keep you interested.

 

I do love the bright colours but I think some of them could do with being a shade or two less bright at the bottom part, the pink and orange are OK, just, but the others cause me to squint a little.

 

The only other thing I have to mention is check your spelling and grammar! On the Services page: "the professional identity your after." should be "the professional identity you're after." I didn't notice any others though.

Colour choice is awesome and some neat projects

Anyone have any more opinions on how I can improve it.

I like the changes you've made so far to the site, especially the About page which looks so much better now.

Congrats on the baby! I really like your site, the colours are great and the whole site looks neat and presentable yet classy. I like the way the portfolio opens too. Well done!

I like the overall look, although it makes me think "software" rather than design services. The black/white/magenta colour scheme does remind me a lot of the iPlayer site, too (I see the colours can be changed, but how many users actually change colours unless it's for accessibility?)

 

One niggle I have is with the 'reflections'. They look a little confused. Reflections aren't affected by perspective as yours are. They look more like shadows, except they're light.

Overall, the site functions and looks nice. A couple of things you might take note of:

On the contact page the "required" buttons look a bit out of place and your website doesn't fully comply with the CSS validation link thats on the bottom of your site: Click here

I think the site is nice overall, although I think the reflective floor a la 2.0 will date rapidly.

I think you should work up the logo a bit more, perhaps make it more of an object than a flat colour shape, or at least make the shape more appealing. Placing it on the baseline makes it seem somehow unrelated to the site. Maybe have the top edge of it level with the top edge of your nav, and lose the reflection.

Also, I think the site overall is occupying a very small area of the screen. I do have a large monitor at work, but even by laptop standards that's a small area you're using, which doesn't really give the stuff a chance to breathe.

 

Like the colours, although I'm not sure they relate to the content, seeming more suited to a nightclub/bar IMO.

With regards to the CSS validation that is due to the thickbox css I use for popups, may have to look around for something different to use or even make something else myself.

 

I agree the Web 2.0 relefections and grads may not last, but neither do my site designs, I switch and change them atleat once a year. Always looking to improve and keep up with the times, plus I get bored of it sometimes.

 

Rather than filling the site with everything under the sun, I opted to keep a limited amount of content on the page at anyone time and with a simple navigation I feel you are never too far way from what you may want to look for. I thought it looks simple, clean and uncluttered.

 

I keep having a play with my logo too and will take your points on board sunwuking.
