I've created a University review website - could I get feedback on it?

Featured Replies

I've created a University review website. I'm initially only sharing it with small groups to get feedback on it before I do a full launch and start targeting users that will add reviews. The site is www.thecampusadvisor.com

Basically, it's a site that allows people to rate & review their Uni. As it's a work in progress I will be adding more Countries/Universities over the coming weeks.

It'd be great to hear people's overall opinions on the site. But also I'd like to know what people think of the fields in the review form. For example some things like 'Area of Study', reviewers can select to rate it 1 to 5 stars. But for something like 'Social Scene' I only have a Yes/No if people were happy with it. Is a Yes/No response too limiting? Is there anything else you'd suggest I do differently with the site?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I found it to take a bit long to find a university, I would recommend a search function so you can type the name and it pops up with suggestions. Or once you have selected the country you could filter by letter etc, just something to make it faster. whatuni . com have the search.

- Under all universities if make their logos much bigger making it easier and faster for people to recognise it while their scanning the page.

- Obviously your about and contact pages etc need some work which im sure you will get round to.

-I think the review questions should remain consistant with each other so all out of 5 stars.

- On pages like this http://www.thecampusadvisor.com/institute/australia/50/university-of-melbourne

I would add a little google map so people can look at the uni without leaving your site, many places you can actually go inside.

- I found the leve a review page like this http://www.thecampusadvisor.com/add-review/112

to be a little much,, id like to see a few questions first with maybe a progress bar at the top. Ive found this way more people continue to complete the whole review and dont leave once they see how many questions their are. It may be something you want to A/B test.

I think the main thing with these sites is that you have to make it as easy and fast as possible for people to leave reviews and as trustworthy as possible for people reading reviews in as few steps as possible.

Layout look clean.  Could maybe use a slide down header so people can always see the main links to Add a Review and Rankings.  This may encourage people to visit the pages where they submit data to your site.
