Issues with Web Developer

Featured Replies

Hello. I'm a client paying for web development.

I'm nearing the end of a new web development project, website and an iphone app. The problem I am having is that when I approached this company, I dealt with the owner, who is an experienced web developer. However, he has offloaded project management onto his junior, a girl who has no web development experience. They told me that they dont outsource development and that they have 7-8 people in the team. However, I can only find 3 people that work for them. The communication with them isnt great. It's slow (six months now), and when they do send updates, they send the smallest update on a Friday at 5pm. I have asked for fortnightly progress meetings and they basically avoided that. I had one update meeting with them a few weeks ago, and it was a disaster. The owner of the company sat there and said to his junior ' youre the project manager, I know nothing about this". She didnt have the right passwords to logon to things to show me, she didnt have my correspondence and I had to show them where to go and give them passwords that they'd given me. The latest update of the app design shows features that I havent even asked for. I am in total catch 22 situation here. It's an awful situation to be in when you're sold something by an experience developer who then fobs project management onto a newbie who doesnt understand fully what Im trying to achieve. I have a contract in place, which was something I made them sign. They also signed an NDA.

What can I do to take more control of this project, with a web developer that doesnt respond or continually gets things wrong. This project is like my baby and I need more control.... ! Should I just be patient and sit it out, or take them to task? I feel like I want to go into their office and take charge of the project my self !

Have you paid them anything yet?

I think it's pretty obvious they either don't want or can't do your project. The chances of you getting anything delivered is virtually zero
