General Question & [Service] in [Location] page issue

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have two queries please,

1. Firstly, I understand this is a very broad question. Basically, I'm a beginner to SEO / website design & development and I've been working on improving our organic Google ranking now for a couple of months, but everytime I get over a hill there appears to be another 10. I am getting us to rank on Google, but nowhere near as high as I'd like (not even first page). How long, typically, would you expect to work on SEO until you get solid results? Again, I understand that's a broad question.

2. I have created 4x pages for (let's say this example I'm a builder in London) builder-london.html / builder-westminister.html / builder-kensington.html ... you can see where I'm going. All four of the pages I've created have the exact same content on the page other than the location that I'm targetting. Originally, all four of the pages were ranking but now they've disappeared. I assume this is because of duplicate content. Would anyone be able to help me the best way to do this? Is it a case of creating completely different content for each page?

Welcome to the forums :)

Having 4 near identical content pages won't really help since you're diluting AND duplicating content, you'd probably be better off having one combined service/location page that explains the service on offer with a simple list of locations covered.

Thank you.

But would I be able to make the page rank highly for all locations when people search for them keywords?
