Slicing...

Featured Replies

Hi...

I would like some advices. Attached is my layout.

Now is time to slice it. What should I take in consideration when I go to slice .. and how many parts to slice it ?

Bests,

Daniel

Decide which elements you will editing and make allowances. Each button needs to be taken into consideration. Also areas where your text is. I draw slices around these parts first and then build off it.

Remember that the bigger the slices, the bigger the file size. Also make sure you get you optimisation of your slices right.

The most common method is to slice the header, navigation buttons, content area's and footer. Each site is different so it is really up to the designer to decide how it's to be done. As kinggaz said, you need to decide which elements will be edited and they're the one's which must be sliced. Anything else can just sit in the background.

Please excusse me if I am completely off track..

But isnt loading images like this going to really slow the site down...also if someone views it with images turned off its not going to look right?

hmm you don't seem to have any bits you can repeat,

so If I were you with that design I wouldn't slice it at all

I'd take all the text off and save the background then set it

as my background on the page then build transparent div layers

for the rest of the page

so the user only has to load up the background instead of lots of

little images where you've cut it up
