templates and Expression engine

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I would like to know where can I find some templates with different design options for Expression Engine. it seems that there isn't to choose from out there.

Also if its possible to have other templates ( for example for wordpress ) and have them installed at EE. and if yes, how can it be installed.

I not a web developer and my knowledge of web design is limited so I was looking for an easier option to install a good template with a nice structure and tweak here and there.

Thank you very much in advance,

Best regards,

Luis

You won't find any. ExpressionEngine is more of a development platform than a plug n play system, so that means you really need some developer chops to get started since every EE sites is custom built from the ground up - it's very powerful though and you can build nearly any sort of site with few 3rd party addons (if any).

It's dead easy for a developer to take a premade theme/template set and take the bits you want to build up EE templates (also allows you to strip out code bloat as well which many premade themes come with).

Hi,

Thank you very much for your reply. Talking about CMS do you think EE is a good one compared with Word Press for example that has already so many templates available?

Thank you again,

Best regards

It depends on your content needs.

Certainly if you're not a designer/developer then Wordpress could work for you as it has a supply of ready made themes and plugins (choose themes and plugins carefully because not all are good quality!).

ExpressionEngine and Wordpress are two totally different animals.

With Wordpress you start with a post (blog) based system then remove or add functionality as needed, conversely with ExpressionEngine you start from a blank slate to build a fully custom site/system exactly tailored to your needs.
