Hi,

I'm a noob with very basic HTML, CSS, PHP skills and have designed a very simple website for my own business. I have created a rod for my own back though ..... I am a member of a supporters club and I have been charged with developing a site which has a forum, online ticket reservation, keeping track on individual account balances (people pay money in and can order tickets if they have enough money in), online payments (probably through paypal).

I've set up the basic framework but need some guidance please on the areas above. Just gentle pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated. I know this may be complex, but am willing to learn (and get things wrong) and see this as a real challenge I want to climb.

Cheers,

Harv

Welcome to the forums

What this supporters club is asking for is very advanced and the sort of thing commercially would cost thousands to develop, I've got clients who have broadly similar setups and the spend 5 figures on their site development! The only exception being forums of which there are many pre-made options you can install on their web server.

If you really want to start then you need to learn HTML and CSS inside out, then you'll need something like PHP/MySQL to develop ticketing/accounts and payments.

I concur this is not the kind of website that should be taken on by a beginner. you should build them a front end then get them to outsource the booking and ticketing system to a back-end developer, and yes it's gonna cost.
