June 22, 200818 yr Good day all, Nice to finally join this forum. I've learnt a lot just by reading the posts, hopefully by making the giant leap into posting myself I can pick up some more valuable titbits. I'm a freelance web designer, new to the game but with enough paid work to keep me going (for now - touch wood and all that). Im sure I'll be asking many more questions but my first one is this (and apologies if its been brought up before) - Has anyone noticed the £2.99 a month, 3 page website that vistaprint have recently started offering their customers? if not, heres it is They're not the most beautiful designs in the world but I can see a lot of small businesses going for the price, exactly the market i'm trying to attract as a designer. Even if the companies are put off by the vistaprint designs, their idea of the value of a website will be far lower thanks to the ridicoulosly low prices vistaprint can afford to charge (but i, unfortunately, can not). Is it worth lowering my prices to attract custom (i currently charge around £400 for a 5 page brochure site)? Anyway, sorry to go on. I probably havent made the best impression as a newcomer, whinging already... Looking forward to any replies, Thanks
June 22, 200818 yr Hi, welcome to WDF! You're never going to be able to compete with prices like that so don't bother trying. Those prices will attract a particular type of client that you probably don't want anyway
