June 18, 200818 yr Hi, My drop down menu under the root menu item "about us" disappears when you mouse down to the sub level. This has started to happen when I put a scrolling news panel on the page, which happens to be under the "about us" link. Can anyone shead some light? link is http://test.utuze.com The menu works fine for me - I'm using firefox 2 for Linux - what Browser are you using? Also works in Opera and IE6 for Linux...
June 18, 200818 yr Author IE, don't know what version but came with xp. So if you hover over "about us" and then move down over the submenu, are you saying the menu stays and does not disappear as soon as your poiner leaves the word "about us"? Because that is the problem I am experiencing.
June 18, 200818 yr As above, it's working fine here for me, too. I am using Opera 9.5 on Windows Vista Ultimate.
June 18, 200818 yr Author Is the news panel working? so no problem with the menu vanishing below "about us"? I can sometimes get it to stay if I wizz my mouse over "about us" , but its very intermittent and obviousely I can't leave it. I don't know what to do.
June 18, 200818 yr Author Please, Please Help! someone! I'm going insane, I'm starting to think that my problem is a simple one but I cannot work it out. As you can see some people have said the dropdown on "about us" stays fine when they mouse down over the sublevel, but its not for me. Can it be a browser bug? I'm using IE number?, does anyone else experience the same problem as me. Please go to http://test.utuze.com is test it out. I am already concerned that I may be going bald, and this bug is causing more stress, which means less hair, which means more stress. The circle is very viscious. So to summarise: I'm going bald, I can't spell, and I'm starting to hate myself for not learning web programming earlier on in life. Lord have mercy, and maybe some of you forum friends. I'm only little. HELP!
June 19, 200818 yr Install Opera, firefox, and safari. It is always good to have multiple browsers to test your site in to see how it is looking. Currently the top half (header/logo area) is floating to the left a bit and the bottom area is centered. You have a lot of mixed up code in there.. you're using tables+css mixed in an odd way. I would clean that up and make it CSS/XHTML only. Also the menu works just fine for me. It doesn't disappear like you are saying.

Big up
June 19, 200818 yr I tried to change the layout to a css/xhtml only setup but for some reason I ran into some problems... I am sure it is from being up all night.. I was trying to be a good guy too I failed at that haha. Let me know if you have any questions.. I am happy to help.
June 19, 200818 yr Author Cheers Mate, I dowloaded firefox and safari, the menu works fine on those, however the newspanel appears out of line to the left, and the scrolling news is not apearing and scrolling. I wonder is the reason for the menu working in the above browsers because the scrolling news is not, and therefore it is not conflicting? I am really scared that I am going to have to strip the page down and get rid of the tables and just use divs to position everything. I have only just learned about css and div positioning.
June 19, 200818 yr Hey, I think you should dive in with the CSS/XHTML. I know it may take a while, but you'll learn a lot and it will only help you in the future. It's much easier to learn when you have a project to work on.
June 19, 200818 yr Author Greg I have just realised it must be gone two in the morning overthere. Forget about my problems, if you don't get some sleep you'll be imagining your are an opera singing firefox living in a cascading style sheet! he he

June 19, 200818 yr I see your problem, it happens in IE7. To be honest with you, I really would lose the tables, you won't be doing yourself any favours. Besides, CSS/HTML is much easier.
June 19, 200818 yr Author Helen, I know your right. I'm glad you got your firefox problem sorted - cross browser compatibility ay! just a dream
June 19, 200818 yr fast michaels.. I am an insomniac! haha I just made me some food so I am good to go for at least another 3 days before I sleep haha. And its a bad situation but rewriting it in CSS/XHTML will make your life so much easier in the future. And any questions or problems you run into, we are here to help. That is why the forum exists!
June 19, 200818 yr Author Greg, everyone. I'll take your advice and rewrite the page using css. Hopefully that will solve the problem. I guess I will be back here several times in the newxt day or so. Thanks everyone.
June 19, 200818 yr No problem. And you will not regret it. After you put it into css you will look at the code and say "wow thats what I'm talkin about!" I also found it much easier to locate problems and fix them in CSS. Because everything is so much more organized.
June 19, 200818 yr Author Greg, I have redone my page using <div position> and some <div id>'s, but more importantly......no tables. I am very happy I have done it, and you are correct, everything is much more organised and you can position anything anywhere and I love it, it provides so many more options. Thanks. I have been looking at the page in firefox and safari but the news panels do not display to proper size, so you can only see a section of the text. But the dropdown works spiffing in all browsers. I have created another topic about the firefox and safari issue, maybe you can have a look at the link and see what the game is. my new css page is at http://test.utuze.com/index1.php All the best bro.
June 23, 200818 yr Much nicer! Now I would just center everything into the middle of the white. if you didn't know it can be done by adding the following into html tag html { margin: 0 auto; text-align: center; } other than that it looks awesome! very clean and simple yet creative look!

Cheers friend, its really good to hear your appreciation of the style. All the best and a big thankyou for your time and input Big up and what not
June 23, 200818 yr Author Yes, the dropdown menu is fine now. My old combo of tables and css clearly messed things up but now it is sorted. However, The scrolling news panel does not display correctly in ff and safari, which is driving me a bit insane. It apears trimmed for some reason and I can't work it out for the life of me.
June 24, 200818 yr Is the news ticker supposed to be filling that entire little box up with content? Not just the top portion?
June 24, 200818 yr Author Is the news ticker supposed to be filling that entire little box up with content? Not just the top portion? Yes it is. The news in the box may contain more characters in the future, so more or all of that space will be needed. I know how to adjust it though if I want to make it shorter. But in firfox, not even all the words that are there now are being displayed.
